Travel Note

Transportation

I (Julia) would highly recommend taking public transportation once you have arrived to the Amalfi Coast. A round trip bus ride from Praiano to Amalfi in 2019 is €2.40 Renting a car in this area is very tricky. If you choose to do so please be aware of a few things. First, you must be comfortable driving on very tight windy roads. When cars and buses pass one another there is barely inches of space in between them. Secondly, you must drive close to the edge and slowly - if you hear honking that means a bus is coming around and needs the entire curve to be able to turn. Lastly parking can be difficult. You must be comfortable parallel parking and parking extremely tight to the edge of the road. If you have more questions please do not hesitate to reach out and ask!

Travel Note

When should I book my flight and hotel?

Flight: I would recommend booking your flight in July or August. You will find really great deals. If booking far out in advance worries you, purchase travel insurance that way if anything happens your flight will be protected. Hotel: A hotel you can book at anytime. I have found really great deals months prior as well as days prior. Just depends on what you are looking for in a hotel. However, given the post covid-19 life, hotels might book up faster than in previous years. If you want help with any of this text me(Julia)! I am more than happy to help!!

Flying into Roma

If your plan is to fly into Roma here are a few options on how to get to the Amalfi Coast. Option 1: You can take the train. The two best trains to take are Roma Termini or Tiburtina train. For the train destination you can put in Sorrento or Naples. (Sorrento is a safer stop than Naples). If you stop in Sorrento you can take a bus or Ferry to Praiano (or where ever you plan on staying). IF you decide to stop in Naples you can take the Napoli Centrale train to Salerno. Once in Salerno you can take a bus or a ferry to the Amalfi Coast. Option 2: You can rent a car. If you rent a car, please make sure to be a very careful and confident driver. I would personally drive the car to your designated hotel and then once on the coast take public transportation. Option 3: You can take a bus. The bus would be the longest travel time. The bus would take you to Salerno and then from there you could take a public bus or ferry.

Travel Note

Flying into Naples

If you plan on flying into the Naples airport here are a couple of options to get to the Amalfi Coast. Option 1: You can take a bus from the airport to the main Naples ferry terminal, Molo Beverello, from the terminal you can take a ferry to the Amalfi coastal towns. Once you get to your final destination then you either have to walk to your hotel or you will have to hire taxi to take you to your hotel. Option 2: Another option is to take the Curreri Bus Shuttle from the Naples Airport to Sorrento and then take the two hour Sita bus from Sorrento to Amalfi. Option 3: Finally, you can take a bus from the Naples Airport to the Naples main train station where you can take a train to the town of Salerno. From Salerno, you can take an hour long bus ride to the town of Amalfi.
