Our story

How we met and the years that followed

Connor and Alexia met the modern way: by swiping right on Tinder in May of 2019! After about a week of messaging back and forth, almost nonstop, they planned to meet at Whistlestop Park in Byron Center. After the initial nerves had passed of meeting a stranger on the internet, they decided to go on a walk around the pond at the park. To Alexia’s surprise, Connor had managed to carry most of the conversation effortlessly, which was something she was not expecting and found that she really liked this about him. After a few hours of conversation of their childhood and plans for the future, they parted ways with no plans to meet again. But that didn’t last long, as Connor had messaged her a few hours later to plan a date at John Ball Zoo for the following weekend. They were inseparable ever since, constantly going back and forth between each others houses, and meeting each others families very shortly after that second date. A few weeks and many more dates later, they became boyfriend and girlfriend on June 28th, 2019. On August 6th, Alexia adopted a 3 pound, Pomeranian puppy, that she named Carmel. Connor tagged along the day Carmel was taken home. He was the first to hold her, and Alexia knew in that moment, watching him fall in love with this little puppy, that she had fallen in love with him. In September, they had gone on the first of many trips to Chicago and had an amazing time exploring the aquarium and city. Around this time Alexia found out that her mom would be moving across state to Rochester Hills for a new job, with Alexia only being 18 at the time, she would have to move with her mom. Not wanting to do long distance Connor and Alexia decided to get an apartment together in Byron Center while Connor finished getting his EMD. They would then make the move across state to live with Alexia’s family for the next 2 years in Rochester Hills. During that time, Connor became an EMT and Firefighter. Alexia continued as a Medical Assistant in Urology and Family Medicine. Connor proposed to Alexia on a vacation with Connor’s family, in Punta Cana. He proposed while taking pictures with his sister, Myranda, and his brother-in-law, Kevin, on Christmas eve of 2021. Needless to say, Alexia said yes! After 4 years, we are so excited for you to join us as we say “I do” in September of 2023!
