Our Story

Jessica and Gui met six years ago at Davis & Elkins College (D&E), a small liberal arts college nestled within the hills of Elkins, West Virginia. Jessica, an English major, ran cross-country for D&E and hoped to apply her interests in place and identity to the education sector. A Brazilian national triple-majoring in Mathematics, Finance, and Economics, Gui came to D&E on a tennis scholarship. He first met Jessica while serving as the male junior marshal at D&E’s 2013 graduation ceremony. Jessica was the female junior marshal for the ceremony, and as she walked alongside Gui that day, she had no idea she was walking with the man she would one day marry. An introverted pair, the two parted ways after the ceremony and did not meet again until fate brought them back together on a class trip to Nicaragua. Throughout her time in Nicaragua, Jessica was able to spend more time with Gui. While he was generally quiet, focused, and reserved, Jessica found that Gui was sweet, clever, and charming. She became drawn to his aloof personality and desired to get to know him better. Towards the end of their time in Nicaragua, Jessica obtained Gui’s phone number from a mutual friend and thus began their friendship. Smitten with each other a month later, they started dating. Two years later, they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. As Jessica had just been accepted to study comparative international education at Lehigh University, they decided this was the perfect time to start their life together. On June 19, 2017 they married at the Jefferson County courthouse in West Virginia and moved to a quiet neighborhood in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. From that moment on, they began their journey together as a married couple. And now…we celebrate! This wedding is the public ceremony and celebration of what was begun two years ago. To all our friends and family, we hope you enjoy this truly special day.

Our Wedding

Our wedding will take place in Berryville, Virginia. Berryville is a cute little town nestled in the Shenandoah Valley. Its downtown area has everything from hand-crafted goods by local artisans, to restaurants and antiques. Many of the buildings in and around Berryville date back to the Civil War era or earlier. The ceremony and reception will be held at The Historic Rosemont Manor. The Rosemont is a 60-acre historic landmark located in the Shenandoah Valley, and has been around for at least 200 years. The estate once belonged to the late Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator Harry Flood Byrd, Sr. Its twelve suites and guestrooms once hosted Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon, as well as many other notable guests. Children: Please note that we are unable to extend an invitation to children. To assist you in sharing this adult evening of celebration with us, childcare information is available and Rosemont provides on-site childcare from a background-checked babysitter for the duration of the ceremony and reception. For information and services, please contact the Wedding Accommodation Coordinator at Historic Rosemont Manor at 540-955-2834 or www.rosemont1811.com
