Technically, the two of us met in Freshman Orientation at college. Despite the fact that in addition to our orientation group we also shared two courses, it wasn't until after praying the rosary with a prayer group in our dorm one November night that we actually spoke to each other. We ended up talking for hours in the hallway outside our dorm's chapel. By the end of December, Andrew had asked Natalia out on their first date.
We love to tell the long version of this story, so be sure to ask us when you see us! The short version, is Andrew organized a weekend hiking trip in the Texas Hill Country for him and Natalia. After a morning of hiking, they went to their favorite winery, Tor Na Loch. Natalia looked over from a glass of wine to see Andrew getting down on one knee. Naturally, the next words out of her mouth were "What are you doing? Do you even have the ring?" Spoiler alert, Andrew did in fact have the ring.
Natalia was born in a southeast Houston suburb called Clear Lake. She graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2020 with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, and currently works in a genetics lab at MD Anderson Cancer Center while applying to medical school. In what little free time she has, she loves to cook, hike, play with Andrew's cat, and buy plants so she can kill them.
Andrew grew up in a west Houston suburb called Katy. He graduated from The University of St. Thomas in 2020 with a degree in Philosophy and minors in Economics, Finance, Accounting, and Classics. Currently, he works as a natural gas trader for an energy company called Calpine (in lay-people's terms, he buys the natural gas that power plants use to generate electricity). Like Natalia, he enjoys cooking and hiking. Unlike Natalia, he also enjoys playing World of Tanks, shotgun shooting, and golf.
