We first crossed paths in Gainesville, FL, at a small local liquor shop. Manda had stopped in after flyering nearby, and James happened to be there talking with the store manager about a whiskey he had just sold to the shop. Manda was intrigued by the bottle… but didn’t buy it. (An early act of restraint—or perhaps fate playing coy?) Over the next several days, the universe decided subtlety was overrated. We ran into each other at the grocery store, then again on campus heading out to lunch. We hadn’t met before, yet kept appearing in each other’s orbit. As it turned out, Manda worked in the building next to James’—and lived in the very same neighborhood. Soon after, Manda attended a tasting James hosted at that same liquor store, followed by what’s now playfully known as the “non-date date.” That gentle beginning—unforced, curious, and a little bit magical—became the spark that grew into something steady, deep, and undeniable. On Manda’s birthday—our first date-date—in classic James and Manda form, before even finishing a craft cocktail, we opened up about the depth of our feelings. There were questions, concerns, and wonderings about how we might become an “us.” It felt like being teenagers again: warm embraces, butterflies, and a flow that continues to be unmistakable. In July 2024, we packed up our lives and followed that spark to Georgetown, Texas, beginning a new chapter together. On March 1, 2025, our story expanded in the most profound way when we welcomed Rowan into the world—our brightest proof that love multiplies. What started as chance meetings has become a shared life rooted in intention, laughter, growth, and everyday magic. We are endlessly grateful for the winding path that brought us here—and for the community that continues to walk alongside us.
First, a big thanks to Manda's father, Jeff Wittebort, for helping us celebrate in a place that means so much to us. Your generous support helped turn this dream into something real. Second, Neda and L, our "head witches", thank you you for all the care, creativity, and behind-the-scenes magic you've poured into this weekend. We're so grateful for everything you've done to help bring it all together.
We are so excited to celebrate with you! This day is centered on community, and these notes are here to help everyone feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to enjoy the full experience. Getting There We recommend carpooling or ridesharing to Auntie’s property. Free street parking will be available before the driveway. At the Friday Welcome Party, we’ll have a sign-up sheet for sharing contact info and coordinating rides. What to Wear & Bring The celebration will be outdoors on uneven terrain, so comfortable shoes are encouraged (heels may be tricky). Colorado weather can be unpredictable—an umbrella for sun or light rain is a good idea. To stay cozy through the afternoon and evening, feel free to bring camping chairs, blankets, hammocks, or whatever helps you settle in and lounge. Solstice attire is warmly encouraged! Think Colorado summer with a touch of faerie chic. Check out our mood board in the gallery, or text Manda or James if you want a second opinion. Sustainability & Sharing Carpooling is appreciated whenever possible. We’ll provide food, beer, wine, water, and a special solstice cocktail, and we invite you to bring a reusable drinking vessel to help reduce waste. If you’d like to contribute something extra—a favorite beverage, snack, talent, activity, or surprise—we welcome it! Memories & Music We’ll share links to a collaborative photo album and playlist so you can add your favorite moments and the songs that make you want to dance.
