Houston Zoo Lights
While you're in Houston, take advantage of one of the city's best holiday traditions! The Houston Zoo is located right across from our venue. Tickets for this event go on sale Friday, October 15th. NOTE: Tickets are NOT sold at the door, so make sure to grab them in advance!
Museum District Museums
19 museums, including The Museum of Natural Science, Houston Holocaust Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts... and many, many more!
Memorial Park - Eastern Glades
This is a must-see, especially if the weather is nice! It's our favorite park area in the city. Then, you can walk over to Canyon Creek in the neighborhood for breakfast, lunch, or a beer (or all three!).
Historic Heights 19th Street (Shopping)
This is always a favorite stop for us, since it's in the neighborhood! Be sure to check out Manready and Vinal Edge Records, and then grab an ice cream at Jeni's. If you're looking for good lunch or dinner spots, you'll find several excellent options on 20th street.
Rooftop Cinema Club
Rooftop Cinema is SO much fun. You can expect, "skylines, sunsets, starlit evenings, awesome drinks, delicious food, and great movies on the big screen." Check the site to secure your tickets.
Art Car Museum
Per the website: Admission is always FREE. We will be accepting visitors BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Same day appointments by phone only. (713-861-5526). Email appointments (artcarmuseum@gmail.com) must be received by 6:00 pm the day before visit.
Bayou Bend Collection & Gardens
Bayou Bend is the MFAH house museum for American decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg (1882–1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is situated on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston’s historic River Oaks neighborhood.
The Silos at Sawyer Yards (Shops & Art Galleries)
This area is defined by its art community. Here you can find shops, public galleries, unique dining and entertainment venues. On the "Second Saturday" of each month, the artists of Sawyer Yards open their studios to the public from 12-5 PM. Spend the afternoon wandering through six repurposed warehouses and discover an extensive selection of painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography... and more.
Barnaby's Cafe (in Museum District)
This is a great spot for a casual lunch. With several locations across Houston, you can visit another one of their locations if you find yourself exploring other parts of the city.
Uncle Bean's Coffee
If you're in the heights area, stop by this coffee shop (another H&C favorite!). They have tasty breakfast options (tacos, fruit and granola bowls... so good!). You can sit outside or drive thru.
Hair Salon | Primp and Blow (West Univ. Location)
For those guests visiting from out of town looking to get their hair done, this place would be a short Uber ride from the hotel. Based on our research, it looks like it has good reviews and relatively reasonable prices for the area ($55-75 for an up-do)!
