Benjamin and I met at a Halloween party out in the boonies of Aurora circa 2012. Well, ‘met’ might be a strong word. That is to say, I spotted him across the dance floor (he was dressed dashingly as the Mad Hatter) and I turned to my friend Sasha who I’d come with, and asked “Who is THAT?” That person, it transpired, was Benjamin Collins. Did I mention I was dressed as Cinderella at the time, in a fifteen pound white wedding dress I’d picked up at goodwill? No. Hmm. Must have slipped my mind. Ben has no recollection of me from this night. Which might be for the best. A giant wedding dress can be a strong look. But really, we each had more life to lead before our paths crossed again. Which was January of 2014 at The Fusion Exchange held in downtown Denver. Still there was no romance in the air, as he was dating a girl who I was sharing the hotel room with (she and twelve other dancers). But our mutual interest and respect in each other as humans was piqued. It wasn’t till the very end of January of 2015, after I had moved back from the east coast, as I was passing through Denver on my way to a dance exchange in New Mexico that I found myself sitting on Benjamin’s couch in Englewood watching an Eddie Izzard Special, when he reached over and twined his fingers in mine. My heart hasn’t stopped dancing a jig, since. We’ve traveled to 8 different countries together. We’ve moved 4 times. We lost a great dog. We quit our jobs and moved to the mountains. Ben got a dream job working at Boom Supersonic. We moved back to Denver. We bought a house. We adopted our Aberdeen pup. And in May of 2020 we welcomed our son Ellis James into the world and into our family. We can’t wait to celebrate our love and family with you!
So excited, in fact, we wanted to make sure we can hug you and dance with you and really celebrate with you all, in person. This is why we have set our date for June 25 2022. Please note the year as there has been a bit of confusion and we’d hate for you to show up a year early. Although, you would definitely be the first in line for the food. You just may be waiting for a.. while. Can’t wait to hug you in 2022!
