Question

Is it safe to travel to Colombia?

Answer

Yes, but like with any international trip, especially to places you may not be familiar with, it’s good to be mindful. The areas around Llanogrande, Rionegro, and the airport are generally very safe, quiet, and well-trafficked. If you visit Medellín, be mindful not to walk around with your phone in your hand, avoid flashy jewelry or watches, don’t carry large amounts of cash, and try to blend in rather than stand out as a tourist. Robbery can happen, usually when people aren’t paying attention or showing valuables. As long as you stay alert and smart, you’ll be totally fine.

Question

What’s the best way to get around?

Answer

Uber is probably the easiest and safest option for getting around, both in Llanogrande and Medellín, and it’s very affordable. Just keep in mind that it’s not officially legal in Colombia, so drivers may ask you to sit in the front seat to avoid drawing attention. That’s totally normal and nothing to worry about. Avoid taking street taxis, they’re not always safe and often overcharge, especially if they see you’re not local.

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

You can rent a car and drive around Llanogrande if you want, it’s pretty easy since the area is small and the roads are good. Just make sure to specify that you want an automatic transmission, as most cars in Colombia are manual. However, Uber is very affordable and a convenient option for getting around. In Medellín, driving is a different story. The city can feel chaotic with lots of motorcycles, narrow roads, and traffic that doesn’t always follow the rules. If you're not used to that, it’s better to rely on Uber or other ridesharing options while in the city.

Question

What’s the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

For the wedding, we’re going with spring elegance. Ladies, feel free to wear long dresses in pastel colors or light floral prints. Gents, light suits or dress shirts in soft hues will be perfect. It’s a formal but relaxed celebration, so bring your best spring-inspired style!

Question

Can I bring a plus one to the wedding?

Answer

We’re so excited to celebrate with our closest friends and family. Unless your invitation specifically includes a plus one, we kindly ask that only those named on the invitation attend. Thank you for understanding!

Question

What’s the weather like?

Answer

The weather in Llanogrande is pretty mild and comfortable year-round. Expect temperatures between 60°F and 75°F, so it's never too hot or too cold. It can rain in the afternoons, so it’s a good idea to bring a light jacket just in case. Medellín has a similar climate, but it can feel a little warmer, especially in the daytime. Just pack for a mild, spring-like vibe with a chance of rain!

Question

Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

It’s a good idea to bring a little cash for small purchases, tips, or transportation. Most places in Llanogrande and Medellín accept credit cards, but having some pesos on hand can be helpful. As of now, 1 USD is around 4,000 COP, but exchange rates can fluctuate. We recommend only exchanging or withdrawing money at the airport or at trusted locations like malls for security reasons. Also, make sure to call your bank before you leave to let them know you’ll be traveling, so they don’t block your card while you’re abroad.

Question

Do weddings in Colombia have an afterparty at a bar like in the States?

Answer

No, we don’t have a separate afterparty in a bar like you might see at weddings in the United States. In Colombia, we like to keep the party going in the same place until 1:30AM! So, feel free to dance and hang out, and we’ll keep the fun going all night long.
