About Cow Island
Cow Island is a 26-acre island in Casco Bay, Maine off Great Diamond Island, about 20 minutes by boat from downtown Portland.
There are no buildings on the island or roads--just walking trails, four yurts, and a few old navy bunkers. There is a zipline, though!
Something to be aware of: the island's restroom facilities are four composting toilets as well as additional porta potties.
A non-profit youth development/education organization called Rippleffect http://www.rippleffect.net/ owns and maintains the island. Their mission is to promote positive youth and community development through learning adventures on the island and in coastal Maine.
