We were set up by some of our friends, Eve Carrigee and Megan Carrigee Fair. Bethany lived with Eve during their senior year at LA Tech. Colin currently works with Megan with LA Tech Admissions. It came up during a group text one evening that Bethany was headed to Rotolo’s for an internet date. This was a first (and last) shot at online dating. Eve said her sister was also eating there that evening and said if the date didn’t go well, let her know, because she had someone I should meet. Well needless to say, that internet date didn’t go too well, so a few weeks later Colin was given my number to decide if he would reach out or not. Thank goodness he did, because we hit it off immediately. We had long text conversations for about a week before deciding to actually meet and go on a date. We went to see one of the Jurassic Park movies, followed by pizza at Utility Brewing. We both felt the immediate connection and ease of our blossoming relationship. It only took a couple of dates for us to both know we had found the one!
This date also happens to be Bethany’s 30th birthday! It was also the first day of the Busby Family vacation to Destin. We had dinner at the Back Porch, then went home to the condo for the evening. It was a beautiful night and the sun was just setting, so Colin asked if we could go for a walk on the beach since we hadn’t gotten a chance to since arriving. We took the short walk down to the beach and shoreline and Colin got down on one knee and asked Bethany to spend the rest of their lives together. It was an easy yes! To make it even better, Bethany’s family was able to see the special moment and catch some photos from the porch of the condo!
Our wedding year rolls around. We picked April 25 as our date back in June 2019. Little did we know as our wedding date approached that everything was about to change. Suddenly, the world we live in is different from anything we could’ve imagined. Due to current social distancing recommendations, we can’t have the big celebration we’d planned right now. We will still be married on April 25, 2020 surrounded by our immediate families. Our hope and prayer is that the corona virus will run its course in America soon, and we will be able to have the celebration of a lifetime with you all in September. Stay well, everyone!
