Be sure to stop by the Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market on Saturday morning, located just one block from the hotel in Downtown Des Moines’ Historic Court District. The market spans 12 city blocks and features 305 vendors from 74 cities across 42 counties. Don’t miss the pupusa from the El Salvador stand—a Coleman family favorite and where you’re likely to find the bride on Saturday morning! There’s always a line, but it’s absolutely worth the wait.

Grays Lake

Gray’s Lake is the best place in Des Moines for an outdoor experience with a scenic 2‑mile walking and biking path and variety of outdoor activities, including boat rentals—canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and stand‑up paddleboards. It’s Maggie’s favorite place in Des Moines and home to the Chris & Marcie Coleman Bridge, where Joe proposed and Maggie said YES!
