Why San Juan Island
Long before we met, we were unknowingly sharing summers on the same island. Sydney spent her childhood vacationing at Snug Harbor with her dad’s side of the family, while Cole was just across the way in Friday Harbor, visiting his grandparents. Two Bay Area kids, quietly connected by one of the most beautiful corners of the Pacific Northwest.
Since our first summer together, San Juan Island has become one of our most cherished places. We've spent countless weeks in Friday Harbor at Cole’s grandparents’ home, creating new memories while honoring old ones. It’s where we celebrated Sydney’s first birthday as a couple surrounded by Cole's family, and where her parents joined the Salquists last summer for their first visit back to the island since those early family vacations.
Choosing Roche Harbor for our wedding felt natural. It’s a place rooted in nostalgia, family, and love.
