Boss Frogs is great option for renting beach equipment including chairs, umbrellas, coolers, snorkeling gear, etc. There are 10 locations throughout the island so items are easy to grab wherever you are! We recommend utilizing Boss Frogs or Costco if you plan on using beach gear, the chair/umbrella/snorkeling rentals are 3x the price at the Kaanapali Beach hotel.
Black Rock Beach is walking distance from the Kaanapali Beach Hotel! If you go down to the beach front—walk North on the sand until you end up at the end of the beach directly in front of the Sheraton Hotel. This is FREE snorkeling and is known as one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. We’ve seen some amazing fish and turtles there! There’s also a fun cliff jump.
If you are landing at Kahului airport in the afternoon, we HIGHLY recommend you grab a bite to eat from this delicious eatery less than 5 minutes driving from the airport. This spot is small, quick and delicious. You order at the counter and eat your food outside on the benches or in the car. We recommend the poke' bowel (one of the best we've ever had) and/or the spicy chicken sandwich. Shout out to Alycia Adler for this great recommendation!
You know we love beer and Maui Brew Co. is one of two breweries on the island--we love it! There are two locations on the island but we recommend stopping at the Kihei location for a larger variety of beers, outdoor seating and sometimes live music! The location in Laihana (close to the Kaanapali Beach hotel) is indoors only but also serves food.
Chef Sheldon from Top Chef opened this amazing eatery featuring asian shared plates and noodle dishes that will blow your mind. Reasonably priced and some of the best food on the island. We HIGHLY recommend having a meal here and HIGHLY recommend making a reservation a few weeks in advance to avoid a crazy wait. We recommend the pork buns and garlic noodles! Yum!
Make your reservation here ASAP! This is a must. Paia is an adorable hippy town and this restaurant is world famous! Owned by a couple who opened it in 1973 and continue to run it until this day! Amazing seafood and tiki vibes.
Fantastic coffee and Acai' bowls just five minutes walking distance from the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in the Whaler's Village. They offer a range of different breakfast food and sandwiches and this place is an amazing alternative to eating breakfast at the hotel. We recommend the Cacao Moana Acai Bowl and an Island Latte' but you can't go wrong with any of the food/drink items here.
Also located in the Whaler Village, this lunch and dinner restaurant is one of SG's favorites! One of the best happy hours on the island at two different times: 3p-5:30p & 9p-11p with nightly live music. They make a mean speciality Mai Tai and we are huge fans of the poke tacos, garlic truffle fries and all of their pizza options!
Another Whalers Village classic! We haven't dined here yet but it has been recommended by many Maui travelers! Ceviche' is a fan favorite here.
If you're looking for the freshest fish in the area, visit this amazing sushi joint just 10 minutes driving distance, North of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and near the northern Maui Brew Co location in Kaanapali!
Just off the Front Street bustle of the city center in Lahaina. We loved walking around this area and are happy we found this affordable yet delicious outdoor restaurant!
Great views and great cocktails on Front St. in Lahaina! We didn't dine here but have heard great things. Happy hour here is from 3-5pm daily!
The infamous Road to Hana—takes about 8-10 hours round trip with many waterfall stops along the way. It is a very windy road but is absolutely once of the most remarkable parts of Maui!
The best shaved ice and poke’ on the island!
Big beach and little beach are SG’s favorite beaches on the island! Little beach is a nude beach—so be prepared to rock your birthday suit in the warm ocean!
