Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Matthew Cole Brown and Raylee D'Ann Lewis
Welcome to Newport, Rhode Island, where seaside charm, Gilded Age glamour, and New England summer magic all come together. Famous for its breathtaking mansions, sailboats dotting the harbor, cobblestone streets, and gorgeous coastal views, Newport has been a beloved summer escape for centuries. It’s full of history, too — John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier were even married here at St. Mary’s Church! Spend the day touring the mansions, strolling the Cliff Walk, sailing Narragansett Bay, shopping downtown, or cruising Ocean Drive. And, of course, save time for lobster rolls, oysters, cocktails by the water, and a little wandering with nowhere in particular to be. We hope you fall in love with this sweet seaside town just as much as we have. Here are a few of our favorite places to see, sip, eat & explore while you’re here!

Castle Hill Inn

590 Ocean Drive, Newport, RI 02840

Grab a cocktail and settle into an Adirondack chair overlooking Narragansett Bay. With sailboats passing by and some of the best sunset views in Newport, the lawn at Castle Hill is one of our favorite ways to spend an afternoon or early evening.

Tour the Newport Mansions

44 Ochre Point Avenue, Newport, RI 02840

The Breakers is a must-see, but the Preservation Society maintains 11 historic properties to explore throughout Newport. Tour the mansions and experience the architecture, history, and grandeur of Newport’s Gilded Age.

Cliff Walk

Cliff Walk, Newport, RI 02840

Take a stroll along Newport’s famous 3.5-mile Cliff Walk, where dramatic ocean views meet the grand estates of the Gilded Age. Walk the entire trail or simply pop on for a shorter stretch between mansion visits.

Ocean Drive

Drive or bike this scenic 10-mile coastal loop past rocky coves, sweeping ocean views, historic estates, and some of Newport’s most beautiful coastline.

Bowens Wharf

Wander the cobblestone wharf lined with boutiques, restaurants, boats, and waterfront patios. Stop for oysters or a cocktail, browse the shops, and soak up the quintessential Newport harbor atmosphere.

Thames Street

Stroll Newport’s lively downtown stretch filled with boutiques, restaurants, cafés, galleries, and bars. It’s an easy place to wander, shop, grab a bite, and experience the heart of downtown Newport.

Set Sail

There’s no better way to experience the Sailing Capital of the World than from the water. Book a harbor cruise, sunset sail, or classic schooner excursion for beautiful views of Newport, Narragansett Bay, and the surrounding coastline.

Cruise Newport in a Scoot Coupe

Rent one of Newport’s iconic two-person Scoot Coupes for a fun, open-air way to explore the island. Cruise along Ocean Drive, past the mansions and around downtown while taking in the coastal views.
