The Wedding Website of Catalina Fitzpatrick and Cole Miles
We know many of you will be travelling to join us, so we’ve outlined the best ways to get to the Bay of Islands below. Please reach out if you need help with planning. We are so grateful you are making the trip! Most of our international guests will arrive at Auckland Airport (AKL). From Auckland, you have two main options to reach the Bay of Islands, where our wedding will be held.

Flight

Option A: Fly to Bay of Islands Airport (Kerikeri - KKE)

The closest airport to our venue is in Kerikeri, where Cole grew up! This is about a 30-40-minute flight from Auckland, followed by a roughly 30-minute drive to Waitangi/Paihia, then on to your accommodation. Air New Zealand and Barrier Air fly this route, and you can usually find flights at a low price. This is the quickest, most convenient option, especially after a long international trip. Note: while local taxis/shuttles run in the Bay of Islands area, they can be very limited. Best not to rely on these for your main mode of transport.

Rental Car

Rental Cars in Kerikeri

Planning to explore the Northland at your own pace? With limited public transportation options in this area, hiring a car is a great idea! There are multiple rental car companies located right at the airport, making it super simple to pick up your car as soon as you land.

Option B: Scenic Drive from Auckland

If you prefer a roadtrip, the drive from Auckland to the Bay of Islands is about 3-3.5 hours via State Highway 1 and 10. It's a beautiful drive with many beaches, cafes, and lookout spots along the way if you have time. There are plenty of rental car companies accessible from the airport.

Travel Note

Gentle reminder!

We drive on the LEFT-hand side of the road in New Zealand!! :) You will also need to apply for a NZeTA (if travelling with a US passport) before your arrival. See the link for more information.
