We met in 2015 at Duke University Hospital as registered nurses in our "Intra-aortic Balloon Pump" training class. We were friends and colleagues for a while working in the ICU but a turn of events took place when Colby wanted to show off his cooking skills and make us a nice steak dinner. Not knowing Heather was "slightly" allergic to black pepper, he loaded up the steaks with just that. She was too embarrassed to tell him since the deed had already been done. Even though she coughed throughout the entire dinner...pretty much having an anaphylactic episode requiring multiple benadryl's and a potential trip to the emergency room...we got through it and have been inseparable ever since. We are truly thankful we found each other and would not change anything in our lives that got us here today! Cheers to finally tying the knot!
