Explore St. Simons Island

The Wedding Website of Amanda Schmidt and Matthew Colavito
We’re so excited to celebrate our wedding with you on beautiful St. Simons Island! If you’re planning to spend a few extra days in town (or want to fill your free time between events), here are some things to do during the sunny June season.

Enjoy the Beach

No trip to St. Simons Island would be complete without a little time by the water. We highly recommend visiting East Beach. It’s perfect for a morning walk at low tide, an afternoon lounge, or even a bike ride! If you’re traveling with family or prefer more shaded areas, Massengale Park offers convenient beach access along with amenities like picnic tables and restrooms.

Explore the Outdoors

For those who love a little adventure, June is the perfect time to explore the island! You can rent kayaks or paddle boards and glide through the serene marshlands with companies like Golden Isle or Turtle Tides. If you're interested in a bit of history and a great view, climb to the top of the St. Simons Lighthouse — the 360-degree panorama from above is well worth the steps. Boat lovers might also enjoy the variety of fishing charters, day/weekend rentals, and sunset cruises available through a number of boat agencies located on the island.

Shop & Stroll

If you’re in the mood for a relaxed afternoon or looking for a little souvenir to take home, take a stroll through Pier Village. This charming area near the water features boutique shops, art galleries, and plenty of places to grab a bite! For more hidden gems, head to Redfern Village, where you'll find even more unique stores, relaxed restaurants, and occasional live music!

Hit the Green

For our golf enthusiasts, St. Simons offers some incredible coastal courses. Whether you're looking to get a round in before the festivities or just enjoy the landscape, both Sea Island Resort and the King and Prince Golf Course offer stunning views and peaceful surroundings. Be sure to book in advance — June is a popular time on the island!
