Thanksgiving Point is an indoor and outdoor farm, garden, and museum complex featuring five main attractions: the 55-acre Ashton Gardens, Butterfly Biosphere, Farm Country, Museum of Ancient Life, and Museum of Natural Curiosity. They have various special events year round (we got engaged at their Tulip Festival) so keep an eye out for what may be happening in January.
There is so much to do up in Park City! Whether a walk along Main Street, grabbing a bite at one of the many delicious restaurants, or checking out the Olympic Park, you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately, Sundance Film Festival does not start till the 18th, but you can probably see some of the buzz of it being set up!
If you are looking for something more wintry, the ice castles are fun for anyone of all ages. We went this past January and had a blast going through the castles, going down ice slides, and more. The event opens our wedding weekend so if you are around the Monday afterwards, it's worth the trip!
The namesake of the city, it's a must see for any visitors! It is only a very short drive out of Salt Lake depending on which part of the lake you are at.
If you are more into history, the This is the Place Heritage Park honors the history of the early settlers in Utah. There activities for all ages as well as many historical monuments scattered throughout the property.
