In February 2021, Caitlin and I took our first trip together to Memphis, TN. When we returned home, we were ready to go on another trip, and made plans to travel to the Smoky Mountains in October. It was a bit of a gamble considering we had only known each other for a month and a half, but we both were confident this was going to be something real. Fast forward to September 10, 2021 (that date is a fortunate coincidence) when Caitlin's father offered his mother's wedding ring to use the diamonds in a ring for Caitlin. I designed a ring with the help of the wonderful jewelers at Walter's in St. Charles. I purchased a Build-A-Bear with a wedding dress since Caitlin collects them and a bandana for Stewart that said "My Pawrents are Getting Married". I hid all of that in my luggage and we left for Sevierville, TN. Growing up, Caitlin and her family got old time photos which was something Caitlin really wanted to do while we were there. We booked a session and I called up to let them know I planned to propose during the photos. They were very accommodating and helped to make sure everything went perfect. We took a few photos, then made our way to the piano which was where I dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me! Caitlin said YES and here we are!
