Matron of Honor
Kissy as we all call her is my big sister who has allowed me to tag along and lovingly annoy for years. She’s been there for me even at times she didn’t know what to say or have all the answers, but her presence is what has meant the most to me. I’ve always known I could tell my sister anything and never had to worry about my secrets being safe. Kissy is one of the most loyal people I know, and I couldn’t be happier to have her standing by my side on my big day.
Matron of Honor
Jasmine is my bestie who has always been like a sister and is now family. She is a ride or die and has been there with me through it all. She is the true definition of a best friend as her love knows no limits. She has always been one of the firsts to have my back and to show up and make her presence known in action. She has a huge heart, is always giving of herself and makes it her business to make sure I have a good time wherever I go if she has something to do with it. Having her by my side on this day will be nothing but a blessing.
Matron of Honor
Shaunna is my sister-cousin I grew up doing everything with. People always associated Shaunna and Codee and never saw one without seeing the other. We sang in the church choir together throughout our childhood and as young adults. We’ve spent many afterschool days, weekends, and summers up under each other that when my parents sent me to a different high school, we were so devastated and did not know how we would survive without seeing each other every day all day. However, we did not allow that to break our bond. It made it even stronger. I can always count on her to bring me back to my roots and spirituality with kind words of reassurance and I couldn’t go through this day without her by my side.
Bridesmaid
Octavia and I met through my bestie Jas and has always been like a big sister who is now family. She’s very smart and knows a little bit about everything. Her nurturing spirit is like no other. She always looks out for her family and welcomes people she meets for the first time with open arms. As a big sister/cousin to my hubby, it was important to have her blessing.
Bridesmaid
Deja is my first niece who has grown into a beautiful, no nonsense, honest and loving young lady. You used to be my baby who I carried around on my hip while thinking “I am so proud to have a niece”. You brought so much joy to our home as a baby and became the center of our world. As I have watched your journey, it makes me smile to know how much you value selfcare and make it a priority. You are fearless and focused in all that you do. I have learned so much from you and your jovial spirit lights up any room.
Bridesmaid
Celina and I met through my bestie Jas and has always been like a big sister who is now family. I love Celina’s passion for the people she loves and cares about. When she considers you family there isn’t anything, she wouldn’t do for you. I can always count on her to give it to me straight, no chaser, but with love. She is very giving and is always up for a having a good time. With her charisma there is no doubt that this wedding will be anything short of a celebration.
Bridesmaid
“Camille” and I met at work and quickly discovered that we shared a lot of similar experiences. These experiences brought us closer together. My dear friend has been there through some of my toughest moments and for my blessings. She’s paved the way and held my hand before I even knew I was going down certain roads, challenging me in ways that I wouldn’t normally do myself. I have watched you overcome and how God has blessed you. You have been a blessing in my life.
Bridesmaid
Ashli and I met at work in the breakroom at our old work building. She was always classy and high-spirited and would always smile and speak to others. That day I suppose she must have known that I needed a smile and a kind word. From that day forward, we have never had a conversation that has lasted less than an hour. She is one of the most attentive, resilient, and genuine people I know. Her spirit that always sees the brighter side is something has been a breath of fresh air in my life. I value our friendship and how it has grown organically over the years so much that I had to have her by my side on my special day.
Bridesmaid
Cassandra and I came to know each other through our boys. Several road trips and roomies for weekends at a time while traveling to cheer on our boys, a true friendship was birthed. She has always had a great sense of humor and the ability to find the funny side in every situation. During some of my hardships she has shown nothing but positivity and always made it known that I always had a friend in her.
Best Man
If you know Baron you know that he may be a small guy but he has a huge aura. It’s rare that he's present and no one knows it. As his older brother I've been able to experience that since he left the womb. I must admit, in most cases, our roles as siblings have reversed. As the older and taller brother (lol), I found myself looking up to him. How he moved. His confidence. The chances he is willing to take and his brutally honest opinions are characteristics of us both but worn better by him. He’s always there when I need him and there when I don’t. I’m now learning how LeBaron is there for me when he’s not trying to be and that means the most. It held at such high value because that’s him just being my brother. The only one I have. My little big brother.
Best Man
Marlon has served as mentor, friend and family since 7th grade. His advisement was often the key to Dooley maturing. He pushed Dooley to see life outside of Harlem and much further than he could grasp. Their bond extends beyond one another and wraps around family members from New York to Trinidad. Marlon is also the proud Godfather of Jalen.
Best Man
Zacceus (Rel) one of two best friends and often voice of reason has been a staple in Dooley’s life since kindergarten/1st grade. The friendship remained genuine and strong through good and bad times as they transcended from boys to men.
Groomsman
Isaiah is one of Dooley’s closest cousins and like a little brother. Not even being on the other side of the world could stop Isaiah from being a constant presence in Dooley's life. Since kids they have gone through every stage together. They were the Lil Rascals running around grandma’s house on thanksgiving, ball players, “playas”, music artists, students, professionals, gym buddies, think partners and now grown ass men. Although Isaiah is younger, he’s always been someone Dooley could go to for anything and can count on for honest feedback and support. They remain as close today as they were when they were younger.
Groomsman
Smiley (Ninoman)a distant cousin has also been side-by-side with Dooley since the early days of kindergarten/1st grade. In their teenage years they realized they both shared a passion for music and worked closely together trying to break into the music business both as solo artists, a duo and later a trio with one of two shared best friends “Flowboy Vegas”. They remain close.
Groomsman
Terrance doesn’t know it but Dooley wasn’t always a fan of his. As a lil snot nose kid, Dooley use to dread the presence of Terrance and every man in the Bronx whenever his female cousins visited NY from Atlanta for the summer. The idea of guys trying to kick it to them was gross. However, Terrance was different from the others. He was persistent and stretched his love for Dooley’s big cousin (Octavia) way beyond summer visits. He literally turned it into a lifetime. In Dooley’s adult years, Terrance has been one of few men to model what it means to be husband and a family man. Glad he stuck around. He turned out to be aight after all. Lol
Groomsman
Kwaze! It never mattered how big or small the issue, he was willing to get in there and figure it out with me. Growing up we dealt with life in our homes from opposite sides of the spectrum. Kwaze being the youngest of his siblings and me being the oldest, was a key factor in creating balance in our relationship. We respected each other’s views. We were always able to have that grown man conversation that pushes forward thinking. I remember vividly Kwaze trying to sell me fatherhood because he knew I was scared helping set up for 1 of 3 baby showers I had for the same kid. His exact words were “ Yo don’t worry this bout to be some fly $h!t. Word”. Little did he know those words would serve as fuel. And just as he said, fatherhood and becoming a man has been nothing but some “fly $h!t”.
Groomsman
Kenny is the second of the fellas to snatch up one of Dooley’s female cousins. Kenny and Dooley’s relationship was jump started by their competitive nature. They collided on the court in a game, The Old Heads vs The Young Bucks, where Kenny was the “X Factor” that helped The Old Heads secure the win. Later that night Kenny stole a win from Dooley in Bowling. On Kenny’s wedding night they engaged in massive trash talking until the final bell as Kenny cheered on The Golden Boy as he was punished by Mayweather. Duke vs North Carolina. They would compete at any and everything but agree on three things, the NY Giants, the NY Yankees and FAMILY. Kenny continues to model what it means to be a husband and family man. He is part of that small and elite group of men Dooley looks up to.
Groomsman
Josh, the last of the trio of fellas to steal one of Dooley’s female cousins (Celina) only to treat her like a queen, fit it in with the family right away. His protective nature and love for family is what made him undeniable. It’s literally as if he was always amongst us. Josh is also part of the small groups of men who models what it means to be a husband and a family man. We couldn't be more blessed to have him in the family.
