Travel Note
We've got a set block of hotel rooms available for the wedding dates! We recommend that you stay at the W Bangkok hotel for at least the evening before the wedding and the wedding night. For the remainder of your trip, we recommend to review hotels/AirBnB/rentals near the Bang Rak area or the Silom area as it's centrally located and easily accessible. If you're traveling with a group, there are lots of accommodations that will host a larger party for a great price. We've found an AirBnB that can accommodate 10 persons for $109 a night!! If you're hesitant on a listing, text Amanda (425.281.2883) and she'll be happy to review and provide insight!

Have you heard about our lord and savior, Scott's Cheap Flights? We recommend signing up for the free version (or if you're feeling extra wanderlust-y, spend $40/year for all deals) and Scott will send you emails periodically on too good to be true deals (e.g. Seattle to Bangkok for less than $600 roundtrip).

Most flights will fly into Suvarnabhumi Airport (airport code BKK) as it is the international airport. Just know that there are two major airports in Bangkok and each are on completely other ends of the town so double check when flying home! The Suvarnabhumi (su-wan-na-poon) airport is the international airport where most US flights land and the Don Muang Airport (airport code DMK) will fly you domestically/nearby countries (eg. Vietnam).

We recommend flying Eva Air if possible as it offers 2 free checked bags, great service, and pretty decent economy class (some economy rows even have just two seats). They have pretty decent pricing too if you book far enough in advance! Otherwise we've heard great things about Cathay Pacific, Asiana (above average leg room), and the United flights to Bangkok. Some airlines also provide a long layover to other countries if you're looking for a 2-in-1 vacation such as Seoul or Taipei. The Taipei airport also has "luggage lockers" where you can store your carry-ons for a nominal fee and then go out into Taipei to explore. Pro-tip: they also have showers where you can freshen up and towels for either purchase or deposit.
Travel Note
+Travel Pillow (if possible) - Some flights (eg Eva Air) will provide a standard small pillow & blanket +Easy slip on/off shoes - you'll want easy shoes to slip on and slip off when making a quick trip to the restroom +Comfortable headphones w/ Aux cord plug in - most flights provide lots of movie choices including new ones! +Eye mask - if you're traveling the red eye, they do dim the lights in the cabin but definitely worth blocking out +Snacks - most flights keep you fed with 2 meals to Asia but bring snacks for the in between times +Charging cords - the flight should have USB plugins to charge your electronics on the way there! +Comfy jacket - even though they provide a blanket, Amanda tends to bring an extra hoodie +Grooming kit - face wash, moisturizer, extra deodorant, etc +Travel docs - passport, global entry, ID, and a pen +Entertainment - books, iPad, Nintendo Switch, etc
Travel Note
There are multiple ways to get from BKK airport to your hotel (and around the city itself)! +Train: There's a train that will take you straight from the airport to downtown Bangkok where the last stop is Phaya Thai which is on the BTS line. It's very convenient and a cheaper option if you're okay hauling your luggage potentially up/down a large flight of stairs +Taxi: If you opt for taxi, ensure that the taxi meter is running and do not get in if the meter is off (or if the driver starts to negotiate). If the meter is off, simply exit the vehicle and alert the driver you will not go until the meter is on. There are PLENTY of taxis in Bangkok and you will have no problem finding one to turn the meter on. When you get in a taxi, please keep in mind the Bangkok traffic. If you plan on taking one after 3PM, factor in at least 1-2 hours extra. +Private car: you can arrange a private vehicle before hand and they can take you for a flat fee
Travel Note
Bangkok is GMT+7 so keep in mind that you will typically lose a day traveling. To accomodate the time difference, try to adjust your internal clock to match the destination. For example, if you're on the plane at midnight Pacific time, it will be 2-3pm Bangkok time so try and stay awake until 8-9pm Bangkok time. I also find that bringing a sleep aid like Unisom aids in the ability to adjust to the time zone. We find that adjusting to Bangkok isn't too bad...it's coming home that's the difficult part. If possible, make sure you schedule yourself some time to adjust there and once you get home.
