We’re so excited to celebrate with you in Monopoli, a charming seaside town in Puglia. This special place is extra meaningful to us, as it’s the same place where baby Gabriella took her very first steps 🥹and has spent many summers visiting her father's side of the family. Clint also thinks it's pretty cool. To help make your trip smooth and stress-free, we’ve put together a quick guide for getting to Monopoli from the U.S. Step 1: Fly to Puglia The closest airports to Monopoli are in Bari (BRI) and Brindisi (BDS). Neos Air has limited routes flying direct between NYC and Bari. If you are unable to fly direct, first fly to a major European hub to transfer, including but not limited to Rome, Milan, Paris, or Munich. Step 2: On to Monopoli From Bari (BRI) or Brindisi (BDS) you can take the train, taxi, bus, uber or drive a rental car into Monopoli. Tickets can be bought ahead of time online or at the station. Tickets and timetables: trenitalia.com By Car From Bari, the drive takes about 45 minutes down the SS16 coastal highway. IF! While a great way to give yourself the freedom to explore Italy, this is not a requirement. The Centro Storico area of Monopoli is very walkable (all within a quarter mile). Our welcome dinner will be in this area and we are arranging for transportation to the wedding venue ~10 minutes outside Monopoli. Car services such as Uber are also available in Monopoli. For car rentals: Bring your valid U.S. driver’s license. Italy requires an International Driving Permit (IDP), which you can get through AAA for about $20. Automatic cars are limited, so book early if you prefer one. Parking: Both free and paid parking lots are available throughout the city. Paid “blue line” spaces (strisce blu) are marked on streets. Rates are typically around €2.00 per hour. For the most accurate and current information, check the City of Monopoli’s website: www.comune.monopoli.ba.it Be cautious of ZTL zones (restricted traffic areas) in historic centers. These are camera monitored, and fines are mailed internationally. Language tip: For online resources, you can use your browser’s built-in translation feature (for example, right-click in Chrome and select “Translate to English”) or look for a language tab at the top of the page where available.
