In a tale as old as smartphones, Clint and Gabriella met through the dating app Hinge during the winter of 2023. A Midwestern man with strong opinions about improv and board games, and a Staten Island woman with strong opinions about everything else. The banter began immediately. Within a few messages they had already promised to have the most interesting weekends possible so that, when they met the following Monday for a shared plate of french fries (her favorite), they’d have plenty to talk about. One planned to solve world hunger; the other decided to disarm the world’s nukes. It was a snowy February night after a first long date spent learning everything they could about each other, including the fabricated details of their international peace deals. Clint walked Gabriella to her car where he brushed off her windshield, and she drove him a few blocks to the train where he exited very slowly to avoid slipping on the ice in his "nice" shoes. A follow-up date at a comedy show (his favorite) was already in the works for later that week. Thus began what New Yorkers call a “long-distance” (inter-borough) relationship. Soon they were sharing drinks with each other's friends and hosting homemade pizza nights with family. Within six months, Clint joined Gabriella on a family trip to Italy. The following year, she joined his family on a trip to Germany. Holidays were being split, and they were quickly weaving themselves into each other’s lives. By the summer of 2024, Clint and Gabriella had gotten an apartment together in Brooklyn. This gave them the opportunity to be even weirder in front of each other, full time. Within months, their decorating styles had merged, their fridge was covered in photobooth strips from shared adventures, and their bedtimes… well, those stayed pretty different. On July 8th, 2025 in Sint Maarten, Clint got down on one knee and asked Gabriella to be his wife. Just moments after she said “Yes,” the universe smiled down and a rainbow appeared over them. (They have the pictures to prove it!) Now, Clint and Gabriella are thrilled to bring their families together across a large body of water (the Atlantic Ocean) to celebrate a love that began across a small body of water (the Narrows). This is only the beginning to a long, happy, and very silly love story, one built on an appreciation for how they’ve completed each other’s stories and started a new one together. They can’t wait to keep laughing, loving, and writing new chapters for many years to come.
