This pedestrian-only mall is a Charlottesville hallmark. There are great bars, restaurants and coffee houses, a variety of shops selling all kinds of things, live theaters that host concerts and comedy gigs, a movie theater, and more. (You can also pay your respects to Heather Heyer at the moving tribute wall that has sprung up on 4th Street between Water Street and East Main.)
For a dose of history, visit the home of Thomas Jefferson. He was a constant tinkerer, so there are many cool things around the house. The grounds are beautiful, and there are opportunities to learn all over the property.
Pick apples or pumpkins with the kids, buy cider, run around, have a blast!
We stumbled upon this relatively-new distillery during a trip around Virginia and fell instantly in love. It's on a gorgeous piece of property, and there's even a friendly dog who greets visitors. Try the tasting and/or a cocktail - you can't go wrong!
