Barton Creek Greenbelt is one of Austin's best treasures with areas known as the Flats, Twin Falls, and Sculpture Falls. The Flats is known to host large gatherings, Twin Falls offers one of the better waterfalls, and Sculpture Falls is known for a little solitude.
Zilker is one of Austin's most beloved parks. It has an excellent view of downtown, boasts several acres of natural land, and you'll always see a few dogs! In December, it will be lit up with the annual Trail of Lights! Check out nearby Barton Springs or Ladybird Lake on a warm day for those of you who enjoy the water.
We both attended school at UT, and spent many years enjoying the campus. There are several great sites to visit on campus including Turtle Pond, the UT Tower, the Texas Museum of Natural History, and the Blanton Museum of Art.
Historic Rainey Street is a great place to hang out and socialize with unique bars and restaurants during both the day and night. For other places that host night life, check out 6th street or the Domain.
Ladybird Lake, just south of downtown, has a trail over 10 miles long! Made for walking, jogging, or bike-riding, it's a great way to enjoy Austin's great fall weather.
Although the Wildflower Center is blooming in the springtime, in winter it hosts its amazing "Luminations" instillation of Christmas lights and decorations!

Cidercade is a retro experience that everyone is bound to enjoy! Pay a cover fee to enter, and then all arcade games are free! Play skiball, pacman, or air hockey, all while enjoying their tasty eats and drinks. Not to mention how this arcade got its name -- their made in-house hard cider is available on tap! Try the apple pineapple flavor (it's Rachel's favorite).
