Clay and Alexa met in 2018 at a mutual friend's getaway birthday weekend in Big Bear, CA. Clay was dating someone else and confidently performing magic while sporting a handlebar mustache ...so there were many reasons Alexa didn't make a move. They remained acquaintances through the years and finally swiped right on Bumble during the height of Covid (July 2020!). They love to describe their courtship like a Jane Austen novel; consisting of long walks in the park six feet apart. However, distance allowed the couple to take things slow and get to know each other doing things the old fashioned way. In fact, their first kiss was at the drive in movie theater! A great place to "neck" according to Alexa's Grandma.

After two and a half years of dating Clay managed to catch Alexa off guard by proposing Thanksgiving morning 2022. She maintains that it could only have happened during filming because she was way too busy to notice anything - including two blankets that went missing from their living room that Clay shipped to Houston. Either way, Thanksgiving morning Clay got Alexa dressed and out of the house with the help of her mom and sister and took her to her childhood park where he recreated their first date. Two separate blankets under a tree, this time a bit closer together. When they arrived home, both their families were there waiting to toast the newly engaged couple.
