If you had told 16-year-old Clay and Alexandra that they’d one day be preparing to marry each other, they probably would’ve laughed—and then quietly admitted they already kind of knew. They met in high school through a mutual friend (shoutout to the real ones who know), and what started as casual teenage flirting quickly turned into something real. From junior and senior prom to cheering each other on during late tennis and softball nights, they built a connection that felt a lot like forever, even back then. Between hallway chats and late-night texts, something lasting began to grow. After graduation, they went off to different colleges and spent four years in a long-distance relationship. It wasn’t easy, missed weekends, tearful goodbyes, and countless FaceTime calls, but they made it work. Even though Alexandra didn’t officially live in Lexington, she pretty much did, because being apart never felt right. Once they graduated and moved back home, they bought their first house together in April of 2024 and began building the life they’d dreamed about since they were teenagers. On March 28, 2025, Clay asked Alexandra to marry him at The Falls in Howardstown, a beautiful place they’ve been visiting together since they were sixteen. It’s where they’ve shared campfires, weekend getaways, and countless memories with family and friends. The Falls has always been a special part of their story, so it only felt right to take the next step there. Now, they’ll celebrate their wedding reception in that very same spot, a full-circle moment nearly a decade in the making. Anyone who knew Alexandra in high school probably remembers her saying (more than once) that she was going to marry Clay someday. Somehow, she just knew. Now, nearly ten years later, they’re planning a wedding, building a life, and still laughing like those two kids who never wanted to be apart. They can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with the people who’ve been part of their story, because the best is yet to come.
