Getting to and Staying in Vieques

Vieques is an incredibly lush tropical island off of Puerto Rico. It’s home to the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world, unbelievable beaches, and the largest and most ecologically diverse wildlife refuge in the Caribbean. You can get anywhere on the island within 20 minutes. Taxis are limited but available and economical. We suggest renting a car or golf cart if you are a larger group or want more freedom throughout your stay. Most importantly, please book your stay *at least* 6 months in advance as this is one of the most popular weekends on the island (for good reason). Getting to Vieques is also weather-dependent so we recommend arriving on Thursday, February 11. You can take advantage of all the island has to offer that way, too! We know this is a far way to come and are so thankful to have you all here!

Ferry to Vieques

50 minutes from SJ in Ceiba, there is a ferry to Vieques. This is the most economical option, but also the riskiest. If you plan on taking the ferry, we recommend that you plan to arrive in Vieques no later than early on Thursday, February 11.

Flight from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)

You may connect directly from your flight to Puerto Rico at SJU to Vieques via Cape Air or Vieques Air Link. This is the most costly option, but most convenient.

Flight from Isla Grande Airport (SIG)

This airport is 20 minutes from SJU, and a quick Uber ride from Condado/San Juan. If you are staying a night in San Juan before heading to Vieques, this is a convenient option. Tickets for the 30-minute flight are $110 each way.

Flight from Ceiba (RVR)

About 50 minutes from San Juan, this airport offers 10 minute flights to Vieques. These have a cost of $55 each way.
