The Black family is one of the OG barbecue families in central Texas. Enjoy some of the best brisket Austin has to offer. Be sure to ask to check out the pit when you're there to see how they keep their smokers going 24/7.
The Continental Club is a piece of Austin music history. Opened in 1957, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Sonic Youth have been among the bands to come through. The music ranges from punk to rockabilly to blues, but there's a live show almost every night.
We highly recommend taking some time to walk up and down South Congress Avenue to see exactly what "Keep Austin Weird" is all about. Grab an iced turbo at Jo's coffee, check out some of Austin's famous murals, grab tacos at Torchy's, and poke around the shopping. There are plenty of restaurants open for lunch and dinner with great outdoor seating -- perfect for people watching!
Check out the iconic UT tower and take an hour to explore campus. A few things to look out for: DKR Stadium, the LBJ Presidential Library, the Blanton Art Museum, and all the incredible architecture across campus. Stop into the University Coop on Guadalupe afterwards to get your Texas gear.
