What's November weather like in the DR?

Answer

The average temperature in the month of November ranges from 70F at night to 85F in the day. Bring sunscreen lotion for the day and mosquito repellent for evenings out. Plan to swim at the beach and pools. The ocean temp is a fairly constant 82 degrees! There is usually a gentle, caressing breeze.

What outfits should I bring?

Answer

1) Cool attire, open shoes and water shoes, hats and sun glasses. 2) A few nice casual outfits for dinner at the nicer resort restaurants. 3) An all white outfit for the White Party. 4) Formal Tropical attire for the wedding ceremony and for women, platform or wedges for the wedding, no stilettos! They will break!

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

No, you do not need to rent a car, especially if you are just participating in the wedding activities. The hotel provides a golf cart for each room to ride around the resort, and transportation back and fourth from the airports and for outside tours.

Do I need a passport and visa to travel to the DR?

Answer

Yes, YOU DO need a passport to travel to the DR. Check it now to make sure it will not expire soon! No, you DO NOT need a visa to travel to DR, if you are US citizen or if your country of birth has diplomatic relationships with the DR.

Is it safe to travel to the DR?

Answer

The Dominican Republic is a generally safe country for tourists; most tourists stay in hotels and resorts where the only major risk is getting a bad sunburn. Common sense safety measures are always recommended when traveling.

Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

The DR uses standard international payment systems, most businesses accept all types of credit and debit cards. The hotel is an all inclusive, you may just need cash to pay for tours and personal purchases. A credit card and small amount of cash is wise to bring for tips and small expenses. Call your bank ahead of time and let them know of your trip to avoid any issues with your credit cards.

How is the electronic communication on the island?

Answer

You will get free Wi-Fi when staying at the hotel. We use WhatsApp for most communication and it works with wifi. Download it it if you are not already using it. We will be creating a number go group chats to keep everyone in the loop. The DR uses the same communication system as the USA. If you sign-up for international plan with your service provider, you may be able to use your cell phone there with no issue or a nominal $10 dollar a day roaming fee. In any case, contact your service provider ahead of time to avoid additional costs.
