On the last Friday before Labor Day 2015, I attended a Latino networking event at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art with two close friends. A mutual friend, who helped coordinate the event, had invited his co-worker, Ragan to the same event for free beer on a rare Friday evening when his kids were out of town. While we where both at the event, we didn't meet there! Later that evening, my friends noticed the "Endless Summer" cocktail party on the ICA deck and we headed out for more fun. Shortly after, I noticed this guy talking to a woman whom I was just talking to and heard him say "I'm divorced and have two boys." I couldn't resist and interjected "Me too! I'm also divorced and have two boys. How are things going for you?" and the conversation started. From the deck, our group of friends decided to go out for a late night dinner and jumped into my friend's double cab pickup truck with Ragan - the only non-Spanish speaker - and his bike included! At the restaurant, Ragan sat next to me and although we came from two different worlds, we found many other things in common. From there, we all went on to a local Latino club, where we danced until 1AM! My feet were killing me. Ragan offered me a foot massage. I looked at my two friends and one said "No, no, you don't know that guy well," the other said "Why not?" I said "What the heck! My feet hurt!" We all laughed out loud. That was the moment we saw his beautiful blue-grey eyes and his warm smile. I looked at my friend Tere, she read my mind, we giggled and said in Spanish "He doesn't look that bad..." The next morning he texted me saying how much he enjoyed giving me the foot massage! I responded with how much I enjoyed receiving it. Six years later we are still together!
