Are kids invited?
Answer
We love your kids, but we want our wedding night to be your night off! Please consider booking a babysitter to enjoy your night dancing away.

Can I bring a date?

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes. If not, we would prefer it was just you.

What is the dress code?
Answer
Formal. Women, feel free to wear a floor-length gown, a fancy cocktail dress, or a dressy pants suit. Men have the option of wearing a formal dark suit and tie.

What are the directions to the venue?
Answer
From the North: I-90 South to Ohio East Exit. Follow Ohio East for 1 1/4 mile to South Dearborn Street; turn left and go North for 1/2 mile. The Newberry Library will be on your left at Walton Street. From the West: Follow 290 East to West Congress Parkway. Turn left on South Dearborn Street and head North for a 1/2 mile. The Newberry Library will be on your left at Walton Street. From the South: I-90/I-94 West to Ohio Street East Exit. Follow Ohio East for 1/4 mile to South Dearborn Street; turn left and go North for 1/2 mile. The Newberry Library will be on your left at Walton Street. From I-55: I-55 to Lake Shore Drive North. Stay in the left lane to exit Lake Shore Drive at the Chicago Avenue stoplight. Turn left onto Chicago and follow for 1 mile to South Dearborn Street. Turn right onto Dearborn and follow North for 1/2 mile to West Walton Street. The Newberry Library will be on your left at Walton Street.

Where should I park, and will I have to pay for parking?
Answer
Street parking is difficult. Parking is available at 100 West Chestnut, located 1.5 blocks south of the Newberry Library. Parking rates are $11.00 for 6 hours or less $13.00 for 8 hours or less. Regular rates will apply over 8 hours. Parking validation will be available at the security desk in The Newberry Library's main lobby. The venue is also highly accessible by cabs, rideshares, trains, and buses.

Is the ceremony and/or reception outside?
Answer
No, the events will be inside the venue.

Will I need transportation from the ceremony to the reception?
Answer
No. The ceremony and reception are in the same venue.

Is the ceremony and reception wheelchair accessible?
Answer
Yes! The Newberry Library has recently completed an expansive renovation. These changes are ADA compliant and have made the venue even more accessible.

Is there wifi at the venue?
Answer
WiFi is available for you to use throughout the 1st floor. The network is currently named NL_Public and does not require a password to access. You will be asked to agree to Terms & Conditions, and then be connected.

Can I take pictures and videos of the ceremony?
Answer
We’ve asked a professional photographer to capture this special moment so that you can sit back, relax and enjoy it with us. Our beautiful images will be available after the wedding.

What if I have a dietary restriction?
Answer
We will have meal options available. Please contact us directly if specific dietary concerns need to be addressed. We want everybody to enjoy our food!

What time will the reception end?
Answer
The reception ends at midnight.
