Alyssa and Clara were roommates in college, and they liked each other well enough to share an apartment for years after that. Alyssa has a huge amount of blackmail material on Clara, but she is really polite about not using it unless absolutely necessary.

Once upon a time there was Buffy. There was a half packet of sweetener in a latte. There was beer. And there was snark with tacos. Mike has known Maya for many years and together they have conquered many things. Maya's keen sense of wit, saucy refinements, and love of furry critters has made her an irreplaceable fixture as one of Mike's greaterest chosen sisters.
Anna Sohn

Anna and Clara met through friends, but they could as easily have met through church or knitting or books or recipes for baked goods. They even look a fair amount alike. Sometimes they suspect that they might be the same person, put through a time-and-space filter of some kind.
Elinore Marks

Many moons ago, Mike met Elinore in Minneapolis. The two bonded over long meandering conversations where they dissected and analyzed all of human history from backwards to forwards (and then back to backwards again). Tasty fooding ideas, large supplies of biting cleverness (or perhaps that was just the gin?!?), and buckets of critter-petting largely underscore many of the coolnesses of Elinore.
Sam Boling

Clara has known Sam all of his life. She got over the shock of ceasing to be an only child, and they've generally enjoyed having each other around ever since. Clara is pleased that Sam has moved back to Albuquerque after a few years of graduate school in the Frozen North, and even more pleased that he and his beard agreed to be part of the wedding.

Alan and Mike have been friends for about 15 years and originally met in Philadelphia, PA. Alan is an incredible person who loves to support just about anything creative, is incredibly hard-working, loves to be challenged, and is always looking for a different perspective through which to analyze the universe. He is a great friend to Mike (and now Clara!).
Paula Barteau

Clara is very happy that her brother met Paula in college, and that they've stuck together ever since. Paula is insightful and delightful, and she makes both delicious soup and beautiful bowls from which to eat it.
