How we met

We met exactly 3 years ago on September 18th, 2018! We had been invited by mutual friends to grab some hard cider at a local hotspot in Boise, Idaho, and neither of us knew each other. As soon as we sat down and began talking, I (Claire), was completely drawn in by the vision Micah had for his life, his drive and determination to go to medical school, the way he cared for his friends, the intentionality in his conversation, and his kind eyes. On the drive home, my roommate at the time and dear friend Ashley said, “You just met your future husband!” And well, she was right! We began dating in January 2019, and everyday since then has been exponentially better because of Micah. We’ve spent the last 3 years laughing, traveling, exploring, studying (quite a bit as of late), and dreaming about our future together! We can hardly wait to being our next chapter as a married couple! -Claire

The Proposal

I always knew Claire loved surprises, so as I was planning to ask her to be my wife I knew I had to be secretive. I did extensive research picking out the perfect ring, finding a time to ask her family for their blessing, and planning for the big day! I was able to ask her father, Peter, at MickDuff's Brewing Company in Sandpoint while Claire's family was in town. The next morning I asked her mother, Kim, when Claire was out of the house. I am very grateful that they were both supportive, encouraging, and excited! A few days later we went up to Gold Hill to see the view of Sandpoint, the Selkirk Mountains, and Lake Pend Orielle. When we got to a viewpoint and Claire sat down to take in the view, I excused myself so that I could set up a camera and sneak up behind her. I remember her looking beautiful and smiling as she looked out at the sun setting, and everything else feels like a blur. I remember my heart beating out of my chest as I knelt down on one knee. I remember that it felt like minutes went by before I built up the courage to speak. Eventually I was able to say, "Claire, I love you more than I ever thought I could love somebody and you make my life infinitely better. Will you share your life with me?" Thankfully she was surprised and thankfully she said yes! I'll never forget the moments we were able to share up on the mountain while only we knew what had happened, and then how excited we were to tell everybody when we got back home. -Micah

The Wedding

When it comes to common interests, Micah and I certainly do not have a lack, and there are three very special things that top our list: 1. Mountains and skiing 2. Our dearest family and friends 3. A big ole' party When dreaming up ideas for our wedding, we thought, "Why not do all three?" That is why we will be having our wedding at Schweitzer Mountain in Sandpoint, Idaho. If you've never been to Idaho before, scratch any predispositions you may have about rolling fields of potatoes. Yes, those are here too, but we also have INCREDIBLE, ski-able mountains. Schweitzer is where Micah grew up skiing, and with all the Werlin Family ski history, it was just too good to be true! We've got something special up our sleeves with a mountain-top ceremony... Yes, you heard us right! To get there, our guests will enjoy a 10 minute chairlift ride through Schweitzer's breathtaking terrain. While we are getting married in June, mountain weather can be unpredictable so we encourage our guests to come prepared. It is also important to note that there is no other route to the ceremony space other than the chairlift... Unless you fancy a 3 mile, uphill hike! After the ceremony, we will enjoy cocktail hour on the mountain at the new Sky House lodge before taking the chairlift down for the reception. We have been dreaming of this day for so long-- to be married in the presence of our loved ones in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. We truly cannot wait to share it with you! Love, Micah + Claire
