We met in May 2022 on the University of Minnesota campus, just as our freshman year was ending. That summer, we went on every kind of date imaginable, spending nearly every day getting to know each other and quickly realizing we had found something truly so special. When fall came, Juan transferred to a school an hour and a half away, in Mankato, to play baseball. The distance didn't stop us from seeing each other every weekend, though. We supported each other through late-night study sessions, baseball seasons, and all of life’s ups and downs. The three years we spent long-distance with each other were pivotal to our relationship. God showed us what it was like to support each other well but still be able to intentionally grow individually in our faith as well as our every day lives. By May of 2025 we knew was what coming next for our relationship, so we spent the summer of 2025 revisiting old date spots, making new memories, and reminiscing all the wonderful things God has done in our lives and in our relationship. On August 16th, 2025, Juan proposed. After breakfast at Hope Breakfast Bar and a round of mini golf, we wandered through the Minnesota Arboretum. Eventually, we reached a beautiful bridge over a creek. There, Juan got down on one knee and asked Claire to marry him. Moments later, our families appeared with gifts, cake, and champagne, filling the day with so much joy and love. And now, here we are, grateful, giddy, and thrilled to be sharing this next chapter with all our favorite people. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
