Festive cocktail party! Any length party dresses or pantsuits for women. Men's attire will range from jacket/slacks to Black Tie. Cocktail attire is similar to Semi-Formal but more flexible and fun.
Dinner will be served family style at each table. There is no buffet, and you do not have to choose in advance. There will be three entrees at each table.
We will have a full hosted bar for the wedding reception, as well as the poolside get-together Thursday. Also, all beverages are included on the catamaran (chardonnay, white claw, beer, etc). There will be a no-host bar available at the brunch, so please remember funds for that event ;-)
If you are staying at the Hyatt, you really do not need to worry about parking. There is a large parking lot onsite that we think is $10/day for hotel guests (self-park) and you use your room key for in-and-out privileges. If you are at the Parkside Inn, this is ½ mile from the Hyatt, so it is walkable, but even at a brisk pace it’s a 10-minute walk. Whether staying at the Parkside, a condo, or any other location, and you want to be able to have your car nearby, you must be aware of parking limitations so you don’t miss the ceremony and/or the catamaran! The main paid lot at the Hyatt is available to guests of all events, which include the wedding, the brunch, and the catamaran. However, there is a fee to park, and the per-day maximum is $26. They have machines to process your credit cards at the gate, so you don’t need to go into the hotel to pay. Just don’t forget a credit card! The entrance is on Country Club Drive. Insider’s tip: the only way you can have your parking validated at the Hyatt is by gambling (!!). So if you want to park at the Hyatt for free, you can go into the casino for a few minutes, put a couple of quarters in the slot machines, and get your parking validated. This is what we hear, anyway… super-secret tip!! The parking lot adjacent to the Lakeside Ballroom/Lower Cottage Green (the Lone Eagle Grille lot) is highly restrictive and they generally will not let anyone park there. This is the parking lot closest to the brunch and catamaran. So, make sure you give yourself an extra 10 minutes to go to the main Hyatt lot and walk down to the lake. Street parking near the hotel is very limited. There is a small commercial area (mini-mall) with restaurants and shops, located across from the Hyatt on Country Club Drive. However we have been told they have about 15 public parking spots, and these are generally pretty full. You can always check there first to see if you can park for free, but make sure you have plenty of time Friday before 5pm.
The Hyatt is a big place, so you will definitely want to know where to go! They have some signage, but it is probably helpful to know that the “Water Gardens” locale is adjacent to the main (high-rise) portion of the Hyatt. This is where the main parking lot is located, as well as valet parking. The Water Gardens area is a grassy ceremony locale, located on the north side of the hotel (away from the lake side), and is actually very close to the main parking lot. If your initial arrival to the property is via the main parking lot, you actually don’t need to go all the way through the hotel and then back outside to the ceremony. You could just ask a hotel employee to direct you to the Water Gardens. There will probably be another wedding going on lakeside, so please note that our ceremony is NOT lakeside so you don't end up sitting at the wrong wedding LOL!! Everything will be set up and ready for you to arrive for seating by around 4:30-4:45pm, as the ceremony is at 5pm.
The weather forecast calls for daytime highs in the mid-70s with chilly mornings and evenings (40s overnight). It should be quite pleasant outside during the ceremony and cocktail reception, and a bit chilly outside once the sun goes down. Dinner and dancing are indoors. Of course, afternoon winds and/or a random thunderstorm could occur on any summer day. Thankfully it looks like we don't have to worry about smoke from California wildfires this time! Please check the weather in advance, and on the day of, and bring a jacket. The bride and groom would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we will not be responding to texts about the weather in the days leading up to the wedding (LOL, but we’re serious).
The Hyatt and Washoe County, NV are following CDC guidelines which do not require use of masks (indoors or out). The ceremony and cocktail reception are outdoors; dinner and dancing are indoors, but we'll have the lakeside deck open all evening, as well. We'll have masks available for everyone who wants one (cutely labeled with the Aug 2021 wedding date, LOL). ***We must guarantee all numbers/headcount for all events 7 days in advance, but if you have COVID, of course we will accept your last-minute cancellation! If you must change your plans, as much notice as possible will be greatly appreciated.***
