Our Story

The Wedding Website of Claire Sullivan and Edward Pagano
But first.... a special announcement: We’re married! After we'd begun planning our May ’23 wedding, we learned that Tom Pagano (Ed’s brother & Best Man) was given the exciting opportunity to serve our country for a year-long deployment in Kuwait with the Army. This opportunity meant that Tom would miss our big day, so we quickly decided on an intimate marriage ceremony on May 27, 2022 - exactly 1 year prior to our original date. The ceremony took place in the Redwood Grove at the beautiful Lynmar Estate Winery, one of our favorite places in the world. It was an incredibly special day filled with love & celebration and we’re so glad that Tom could be there participating (he signed the marriage license!). Despite the paperwork having been filed, we won’t consider our marriage to be official until we’ve made our vows in the presence of all of our loved ones and have partied like heck about it.

How We Met

-

Claire and Ed met on the corner of California & Montgomery in downtown San Francisco. It was a Friday afternoon in July 2017 and they had both just moved to San Francisco — Claire from Palo Alto & Ed from New York. Ed had become fast friends with his new coworker, Mike Capitolo, the longtime boyfriend (now fiance!) of Hana Lamb, Claire’s best friend. With Ed being new to the city and not having many friends, Mike kindly invited Ed to join a group of friends who were going to a SF Giants game and introduced Ed to Claire on the walk over to the stadium. Claire and Ed started as friends, despite Ed’s secret crush. Ed finally acted on his feelings when he mustered up the courage to invite Claire to his company holiday party. After painstakingly crafting the wording and going through multiple rounds of review with friends & family, Ed fired off the text to Claire with the invitation. Assuming they would be going as friends, Claire nonchalantly read the text and forgot to accept, leaving Ed sweating for multiple days. Donning their formal attire and taking advantage of the open bar, Claire and Ed progressed beyond friendship and have been together ever since!

How He Proposed

-

Surprising no one, Ed is a romantic with a flair for the dramatic and he meticulously planned how to pop the question. Harkening back to their meeting at an SF Giants game, he ultimately decided that the perfect location would be the Balletto Field of Dreams, an incredible baseball field built amongst vineyards by longtime Sullivan family friend, John Balletto (google it, truly the coolest place). Finding any excuse for her to meet him there, Ed asked Claire “want to go do something fun?” when she arrived. Ed then led Claire around the bases, each one containing a cute memento from special moments throughout their relationship. At home plate, Ed got down on one knee and, through tears, asked Claire to marry him. Claire said YES and they spent the rest of the day with friends & family at their surprise engagement party.
