Things To Do in AZ

We know a lot of you are traveling to come celebrate with us, and we're so grateful for that! Here are some places in the area that we'd recommend checking out to get the most out of your trip.
The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon

AZ 86023

The south rim of the Grand Canyon is about an hour and a half from Flagstaff. There are some stunning day hikes you can take in the canyon, although just driving to see the breathtaking views is definitely worth it!

Sedona

Sedona

Sedona, AZ 86336

Sedona is about 45 minutes from Flagstaff, and is a beautiful place to hike, bike, and explore. It's a world class destination, and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Lava River Cave

Lava River Cave

171B Forest Road, Flagstaff, AZ 86001

Bring a flashlight and some closed toed shoes to explore volcanic lava tubes! This free attraction is an underground, 3/4 mile tunnel left behind thousands of years ago. It's pretty chilly inside, so a jacket might be a good idea, too.

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course

Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course

2446 Fort Tuthill Loop, Flagstaff, AZ 86005

An outdoor obstacle course in the trees, featuring ziplines! A great place for kids and adults who want a little extra adrenaline.

Lowell Observatory

Lowell Observatory

1400 West Mars Hill Road, Flagstaff, AZ 86001

Flagstaff if famous for being an excellent location for stargazing, and Lowell Observatory is a great place to take advantage of that. It is also the site of where Pluto was discovered using the gigantic telescope there in 1930.

Downtown Flagstaff

Downtown Flagstaff

6 East Aspen Avenue, Flagstaff, AZ 86001

They say go where the locals are...historic downtown is certainly that hub of activity offering an abundance of must-do activities including self-guided walking tours, restaurants, attractions, brewery trail, art galleries, boutiques, outdoor outfitters, breweries...let's just say downtown is an itinerary must. (I definitely copy pasted that, but you get the point).

Bearizona Wildlife Park

Bearizona Wildlife Park

1500 East Route 66, Williams, AZ 86046

Take your own car to this drive through zoo about 35 minutes from Flagstaff.

Canyon Coaster Adventure Park

Canyon Coaster Adventure Park

700 East Route 66, Williams, AZ 86046

Family fun park with outdoor summer mountain tubing and a canyon coaster.

Fort Tuthill County Park

Fort Tuthill County Park

2446 Fort Tuthill Loop, Flagstaff, AZ 86005

A scenic park in the woods that offers a free disc golfing course, free mountain biking trails, picnic ramadas, and an archery range.

Two Guns

Two Guns

AZ 86047

An abandoned ghost town on the highway between Flagstaff and Winslow, roughly a 45 minute drive one way. Here you can explore the Apache Death Caves, remnants of an old zoo built in the 1920's, a former, burned down pit stop including a gas station and a now graffiti filled swimming pool. It's one of Cora's family's favorite places to go and take visitors, but make sure you're being careful and respectful of any ruins left behind.

Humphrey's Peak Trail

Humphrey's Peak Trail

Humphreys Summit Trail, Flagstaff, AZ 86001

If you're up for a challenge, consider hiking Mt. Humphreys. It is the highest mountain in the state of Arizona, with an elevation of 12,637 feet. The trail itself is just over 10 miles long and gains more than 3,000 feet in elevation, but the views of the San Fransisco Peaks at the summit are absolutely phenomenal.

Elden Lookout Trail

Elden Lookout Trail

5098 U.S. 89, Flagstaff, AZ 86004

A shorter alternative to Mt. Humphreys, Mt. Elden is a 5.3 mile trail that boasts a 2,398 ft. elevation gain. If you don't want to hike the whole mountain, consider doing Fatman's Loop, which has the same starting trailhead.
