We both served LDS service missions in northern California in 2020. We met for the first time in the Dallas, Texas airport the day that we flew into our mission office. A couple of months later, we ended up becoming roommates in Ukiah, California along with a few other girls who remain our close friends. Long story short, we both became good friends sharing many similar interests such as traveling, catching frogs, and teaching the gospel. Later we realized we had feelings for each other, and Ady ended up moving to another area before eventually finishing her mission in Canada. Cora finished her mission in California, and we both did a lot of self searching while trying to figure out our relationships with religion and ourselves as individuals. Over a year passed, and we still had feelings for each other. After we both finished our missionary service, we decided to meet up once more in September of 2022.
Almost two years after we first met, Cora asked Ady to be her date to our mutual friend's wedding. We ended up going on a double, then a triple date with some of our close friends to a BYU pride event before partying at the wedding. After that, we finished off a perfect first date with a sunset photoshoot and some Thai food. It all would've ended there, but Cora ended up losing her phone, ID, and credit card over the course of the night and got stuck staying in Provo with Ady for a few days. Even after successfully getting a ride back home to Arizona, Cora just kept coming back to Utah to visit Ady (it's a good thing she worked for the airlines!). After dating long distance for several months, Cora officially moved to Utah to be closer to Ady in January.
We moved to Skagway, Alaska to be tour bus drivers over the summer. We both knew that we wanted to get engaged somewhere special and picturesque, although we hadn't made any actual plans as far as how or when our engagement might take place. On Saturday, June 3rd, exactly nine months after our first date, Ady brought Cora to a gorgeous waterfall just minutes away from our home and got down on one knee. After a few seconds of processing and some happy tears, we officially made the best decicion of our lives! Cora said a big yes! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in AZ!
