We met at Canaan Fellowship in 2011. It was when Cindy attended the fellowship for the first time. Hong was the first person to introduce himself after bible study and that caught Cindy’s eye. Her first impression of him was how capable he was at playing the guitar and drum at worship. Hong approached Cindy because he wanted to help her ease into the new fellowship, knowing how difficult it would be for her. We started off as friends. We attended the same college and church, it gave us the opportunities to spend time together. On top of that, we were in in the same small group and also had study dates together for our UIC finals. During Cindy’s senior year of college, she had to make a difficult decision, whether to stay in Chicago or move to St. Louis for nursing grad school. At this point, they’ve been friends long enough, she felt she had to express her feelings before she made the decision. She mustered up the courage to write a letter to express her feelings and handed it to him during the church winter retreat. However, immediately handing the letter to him, she ran away because she was just too nervous to see how he’d react. Hong was shocked when he received it and needed some time to think. When it came time to talk, we had dinner and decided to go on some dates to see where that would lead us. After a couple of dates to the movies and dinners, we found out how compatible we were and started dating. After 6 years of dating, we decided to tie the knot and spend the rest of our lives together. Thank you for reading about our journey and we look forward to your attendance at our wedding!
