Dating back to August 2008 in the halls of St. Pius X High School as wide-eyed freshmen, our love story began. What started as a simple friendship blossomed into something deeper, bound by shared experiences and an undeniable connection. Together, we ran JV track, pushing each other to be faster, stronger, and better—both on the track and in life. Sundays were spent attending church at St. Mary of the Purification Catholic Church and now Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, where our faith became another pillar of our growing relationship. Beyond the school and church walls, our love flourished in the little things—like our shared passion for food. Whether it is discovering new hidden gems during Houston Restaurant Week or indulging in our tried-and-true favorites like Five Guys, Brass Tacks Coffee Shop, The Gypsy Poet, or on a fancy night, you can catch the two of us enjoying a steak, creamed spinach, whipped praline sweet potatoes and mac & cheese at Steak 48. If we’re not dining out, most likely, we’re curled up on the couch under a heated blanket, binge-watching Netflix and Hulu series. The only dilemma? Desmond’s tendency to either doze off mid-episode or forge ahead without Ciera, leaving her perpetually one season behind. Our love story was never just about grand gestures; it was about the small, everyday moments that made our bond unshakable. Nights at speakeasies became our secret indulgence, and somewhere along the way, Desmond turned Ciera from a whiskey connoisseur into a full-blown Tequila Reposado fanatic. However, some nights call for calm and quiet in the house while sipping a full-bodied glass of Cabernet. Of course, our journey wasn’t without its twists and turns. Over fourteen years, our relationship had its share of ups and downs, breaks and reunions, yet we always found our way back to each other. It was as if the universe conspired to keep us together. And finally, after more than a decade of growing, loving, and learning, Desmond knew it was time. Time to solidify what they both knew in their hearts was meant to be. On December 9, 2023, in front of family and friends, Desmond dropped to one knee and asked Ciera to be his forever. The answer was an undeniable, resounding yes. And this? This is only the beginning!
