Best Man
Devin and Daniel met at the school bus stop in the 4th grade and have been friends ever since. Though their houses used to be just two blocks apart, they now live considerably farther away, as Devin lives in Helsinki with his wife Katri. But, that hasn't kept Daniel and Cici from flying out to Finland (twice) to go see them.
Groomsman
Derek and Daniel have known each other all their lives -- well, Daniel's life anway; Derek was already 4. As with many big brothers, Derek was very influential for Daniel's taste in television, movies, and video games, and to this day they speak in an intelligble shared language of quotes and references. Derek and his wife Cherine live in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Groomsman
Daniel never thought his sister Dana would marry someone with whom he has so much in common, but then Matt came along! Along with being a prodigous reader of sci-fi and fantasy and consumer of all things Star Wars, Matt is an excellent cook and has kept Daniel and Cici fed for many a long weekend. Matt and Dana live in Washington, D.C.
Groomsman
Daniel and Chris have been friends since middle school and have gotten into many hijinx over the years, from forming a short-lived band, to (almost) being zombie extras in an indie horror movie, to some minor acts of criminal mischief . . . but that's all behind them now, we swear! Chris resides in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Maid of Honor
Emily and Cici met in nursery school, but really sealed the deal at Cici's 4th birthday party, a petting zoo during which most of the animals escaped. Emily reveled in the chaos and Cici knew she'd found a kindred spirit. Emily is truly the kind of friend who knows where the bodies are buried, as she and Cici have been there for each other through the ups and downs of the last (mumble mumble) years. Perhaps more to the point, she knows which of the embarrassing middle school stories are appropriate for a wedding toast and which must be taken to the grave. Cici and Emily have enjoyed visiting each other over the years in St. Louis, Providence, Los Angeles, and New York. Emily is a talented artist and creator of all stripes and lives in Chicago (though Mona and Cici continue to agitate for her to move to New York).
Maid of Honor
Mona moved to Winnetka right at the beginning of seventh grade and, to her enormous credit, decided that Cici, Emily, and their merry band of misfits were just the friends she'd been looking for. Mona and Cici continued to bond through tennis, theater, and being just a little too smartmouthed for public school. She also maintains a startling amount of dirt on the bride, but you'll have to get her a nice rye drink to hear those stories. Mona is a remarkable singer and an Excel whiz, and watch out for the day when she learns to combine those skills. Mona has lived in New York City since college, inching further and further up the Upper West Side with her cat, Xena, although she has always been careful to live an easy distance on the 2/3 subway line from Cici.
Bride’s Best Man
Kevin and Cici met in 1992 at Evanston Hospital, and the Coquillette family (to say nothing of the world) hasn't been the same since. According to eyewitnesses, Cici spent the first hour taking off Kevin's hospital-provided hat, patting him gently on the head, and then replacing the hat, a pattern which continues to this day. Having been raised around a large number of smart, fun women, it’s no surprise that Kevin met his match in Maggie, with whom Cici shares a love of the French language, Minnesota lakes, and a nice glass of rosé. Kevin, Maggie, and their too-cute-for-words son Charlie live in Edina, Minnesota.
Bridesmaid
Cici met Allie the first day of law school and, upon hearing that Allie was from Chicago and had spent the last several years living in Berlin, decided the two would become close friends. Allie very kindly acquiesced, and the rest is history. Though the two no longer live within easy walking distance of one another, they make up for it with elaborate meals when the other is in town, long-distance raclette parties, and lots of phone calls. Allie lives in Chicago with her dog Theo (ask her to show you some pictures!)
Bridesmaid
Cici and Dana weren't born sisters, but as of April 6 will legally confirm what's been obvious for years: they're basically sisters. After years of wine and cheese dates, talking politics, sharing interesting (and depressing) books, and getting coffee after church, sometimes it's hard to remember these two only met because of Daniel. Dana now lives in the most adorable row house in Washington, D.C. with her husband Matt, who does not share an alarming number of personality traits with Cici.
Bridesmaid
Lilly and Cici met in the coffee line during the visit day for UChicago's Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences. Both ended up deciding to attend, whether because of the academics or because of that nice person they chatted with in line. As roommates in grad school, they balanced their time between late nights at Harper Library and Sunday dinners at Harold's fried chicken. A behavioral economist by training, Lilly now lives in New York, where she and Cici continue talking about esoteric subjects at speeds hardly discernable to the human ear. Lilly recently became the guardian and best friend of a Balinese cat named Little Cat.
Bridesmaid
Marissa and Cici survived the Harvard Law Review together, thanks to a generous supply of free industrial-strength coffee (Marissa), chocolate-covered almonds (Cici), and a Law Review-funded unlimited fro-yo gift card (both). Marissa is the only person who shares Cici's passion for the Bluebook, the legal citation manual, and does her best to steer the conversation away from novel jurisdictional tests when Daniel's around. Marissa lives in Boston and makes occasional trips down to New York to introduce Cici to new forms of Italian pastry.
