Faro Airport

Unfortunately United cancelled their route from Newark to Faro. While Faro is definitely the most convenient airport, there are no direct flights from the U.S. If you are flying from a different location in Europe, Faro is convenient. Otherwise, you could connect to Faro via Lisbon or a different location. It is a 45 minute drive to Carvoeiro and if you want to come straight to the Algarve from the U.S, take a direct flight to Dublin or London and connect to Faro from there.

Lisbon Airport

Lisbon is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from the airport to the Algarve. There are buses and trains available to and from Lisbon Oriente. Something to note: give yourself a lot of time if you are taking a bus from the Algarve to Lisbon for a flight. You will learn that things move a bit ~slow~ in Portugal and these buses make at least 2-3 stops so the travel time on a bus is approximately 3-4 hours. Save yourself the stress and give yourself either a day (explore Lisbon!) or book an earlier bus to give yourself a good few hours to make your flight. More information on buses below!

While this note is likely not necessary for our American guests, we know that Uber isn't available in Ireland. If you have not already, we highly encourage you to download this rideshare app. While there are taxi options, Uber is generally very reliable, fast and cheap! Please let us know if you have any questions about that!

Public Transportation

While there are a few options for public transport, we've found the bus to be the fastest. There are a few different bus companies but if you are traveling from Lisbon to Carvoeiro, the best destination is Lagoa as it's a direct bus and only an 8 minute Uber or taxi from Carvoeiro. Bus Companies: RenEx, FlixBus, Rede Expressos, and Mundial Turismo. Please reach out if you have any questions!
