In 2019, Aaron and Ciara, while living on different continents, had the same idea: to move to Australia. Ciara was traveling with her friend Meghan and once they arrived in Melbourne they found an apartment in a "backpacker building". The apartment was a far cry from luxury but they had a feeling they could make some friends there. Aaron was traveling with two friends (both named Darragh) where they bounced around a bit before they too settled on the same "backpacker building" in Melbourne. Funnily enough, they say that they partly chose that building because they had seen a big group having a dinner party in the building's outdoor area a few weeks earlier. Who threw that party? It was Ciara and Meghan bringing a taste of home by cooking a Thanksgiving feast for their new friends. In January, Ciara had some friends visiting and threw another party in the outdoor area of their building. Aaron, Darragh and Darragh peeked over their balcony to see what was going on when Ciara invited them to come down and join in on the fun. When the boys came down they claimed they wouldn't stay long because they didn't plan to go out. That is when Ciara chimed in and said, "You didn't come to Australia to stay in on a Saturday night." Needless to say this prompted the three of them to go to the bottle shop so they could officially join the party. Ciara and Aaron clicked right away and Aaron knew Ciara was the one for him when he saw that she was the life of the party. Ciara knew Aaron was a good match for her when he didn't need too much convincing to join in on the 'sing-song'. It was only six weeks later, in March 2020, that the world shut down and both Ciara and Aaron felt that Australia was the best place for them to be. They both completely changed their plans and (to everyone's surprise) ended up on a farm in rural Queensland in order to qualify for another visa. As they were dating for only four months at the time of arriving to the farm, it was a true test to their relationship. As their friends and family said, "If you can make it through this, you can make it through anything." Aaron and Ciara, both city people, somehow made it through 88 days of farm life and their bond was stronger than ever. From that experience they knew that they couldn't live without each other! And the rest, as they say, is history.
