Welcome to our wedding website! We’re so excited you’re here and honored to share a glimpse of the story God has been writing in our lives. What was meant as an innocent joke from Chumani to Phillip her sophomore year — that if she were ever to marry someone she met through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), he would have to be the one to marry them — is now coming to fruition. When Chumani and Darius both attended Barton College, neither knew how the Lord would use that season of life as a time of growth and preparation for one another. An off-hand comment during Darius’ sophomore year and Chumani’s freshman year, from Dereck to Darius — “Chu is the only girl here I could see you with” — was made without knowing that years later, the two would truly become one. At FCA camp in the summer of 2024, Chumani and Darius began cultivating a friendship. Over their senior year, that friendship slowly blossomed into something more. That fall was filled with dinners with friends, game nights, and hours-long conversations on Chumani’s couch. Chumani went all out for Darius’ senior day, gifting him a basket filled with his favorite snacks and photos to celebrate his college football career. When Chumani’s shoulder dislocated, Darius brought her flowers and stayed close — even as she was surrounded by family, he spent the entire evening checking in on her. His actions and daily care showed a love that extended far beyond friendship, and it was evident to everyone around them. At the start of 2025, Darius began seeking wise counsel from people in both of their lives as he realized his feelings for Chumani were deeper than friendship. He shared how he viewed her as God’s daughter and expressed his desire to pursue her with intention and to care for her heart. At the end of January, Darius took Chumani to La Rancherita, where he shared his feelings with her. She reciprocated, and together they began intentionally investing in a God-centered relationship. On April 5, 2025, Darius asked Chumani to be his girlfriend. Over the summer, Darius spent time in prayer preparing for what he knew the Lord had placed on his heart — to propose before the end of 2025. On November 8, 2025, Chumani said yes to spending forever with Darius, and they will say “I do” on April 24, 2026. As Darius and Chumani continue to steward their relationship with intention and obedience, they are joyfully preparing to step into ministry as husband and wife. We are so grateful for the community that has loved, prayed for, and supported us along the way — and we cannot wait to celebrate this next chapter with you!
