From Fiddlesticks to Forever: Our StoryFrom Fiddlesticks to Forever: Our Story

Established July 31, 2021

Sophia and Christopher come from opposite sides of the country - she from the sunny beaches of California, and he from the close-knit suburbs of Long Island. On paper, they couldn’t be more different. Their upbringings were shaped by unique traditions, family, and cultural influences. But as life often proves, opposites attract, and their paths crossed unexpectedly on a night neither of them planned - at Fiddlesticks, an Irish pub in the West Village. It all started with a mix-up. Sophia had asked her cousin & best friend Abe to introduce her to someone she noticed by the bar. Instead, he approached the wrong individual - the one who would eventually become her fiancé. As Sophia frantically tried to signal “wrong guy” with hand gestures and mouthed words, her cousin turned back to Christopher and casually said, “Oops, just kidding, wrong guy,” before walking away. Despite the awkward start, something about Sophia’s energy caught Christopher’s attention. After several glances over time, Abe noticed this and asked Sophia, “Should I just tell him to come over?” She said sure, and as soon as Abe waved him over, Christopher made his way over with a big grin. It didn’t take long for them to realize they’d stumbled onto something special. Maybe it was the three AM stroll around Washington Square Park debating political stances that sealed the deal! What makes their story even more remarkable is that Sophia wasn’t planning to stay in New York at the time. She had returned to pack up her belongings before temporarily moving back to California. But meeting Christopher changed everything. After their first encounter, she called two of her now bridesmaids and made the bold, completely out-of-character choice to stay in New York a little longer, curious to see if this connection with this stranger could turn into something more. It was a leap of faith that would ultimately change the course of her life. Though very different, Sophia and Christopher quickly discovered that their shared values created a strong foundation for their relationship. Their differences, whether in culture, upbringing, or perspective, brought new experiences into their lives and helped them see the world in new ways. They’ve embraced each other’s traditions with curiosity and love, creating a bond that feels both exciting and deeply meaningful. Over time, they’ve grown together in ways neither could have predicted, navigating challenges, celebrating milestones, and finding joy in everyday moments. While no journey is perfect, theirs has been filled with love and growth that has made them stronger as a couple. One notable milestone? Christopher overcoming his self-proclaimed dislike of cats to become the proud and devoted father of Sophia's beloved Mango. Mango, with his orange round self and undeniable charm, holds a starring role in both their lives as the heart of their home, bringing joy and laughter to their everyday moments. Now, they are celebrating their love story in Ireland, a place that feels full circle for them: having met at an Irish pub in New York City and now tying the knot in the land of its origin. They hope their story serves as a reminder that life’s most wonderful moments come from the unexpected, and that fate has a way of bringing people exactly where they’re meant to be. Sophia and Christopher can’t wait to share their next chapter with all of you!
