About Us

Christopher and my story actually starts about a year before we met. I started a summer job in 2016. At one of the very first trainings this lady named Sheila came and sat next to me. An hour after meeting her she tells me she has a son and he's at school right now. I politely nodded but quickly dismissed the information. Over the summer she told me stories and showed me pictures of her son. Again I politely nodded and moved on. I'll be honest, I looked him up online at least once. The next summer in 2017 we all came back to the job and Sheila brought her son Christopher to work as well. We had mutual friends and often hung out all together at work. Towards the end of the summer Christopher and I started talking to just each other more, but it wasn't until literally the day after he left for school that we told each other we liked one another. But we kept texting, calling, and Skyping each other. Periodically I'd go visit him at school and we always spent time together when he was home for breaks. We officially started dating at the beginning of the year in 2018. the following spring in 2019 we moved in together, at the end of 2020 we moved to Seattle, Washington together, and in the fall of 2022 Christopher proposed to me!

The Proposal

Christopher proposed to me on our trip to Walt Disney World in a private alcove on the right side of the Cinderella Castle. He proposed on October 5th 2022. Myranda's side of the story: Christopher and I had talked about getting married for a while and I told him my dream proposal was at Disney. At one point he told me that his only idea was to do it at Disney also. So I knew well in advance that he was going to propose on this trip. I just didn't know when or how. I kept waiting and honestly getting a little anxious, but I trusted him and didn't say anything about it. At one point he was asking about when we were going to Magic Kingdom again and saying "Didn't you want to watch the fireworks?" So I was thinking he was going to do it then. The whole show I kept waiting but then the end came and he hadn't done anything. I was thinking "Well it was a pretty loud show, probably would have been awkward." Then he asked if we could find somewhere quiet to sit. He hadn't asked that the entire trip so I was like "Okay he's gonna do it." So I wandered around trying to find a good spot. There were no good spots. We had stopped at one point beside the left side of the castle and Christopher asked if we could go back. We sat on some steps for a while. Christopher started talking about how good this year has been and I was thinking "He's trying to do it! This is it!", but then he stopped. After another few moments he asked if there was a place with less people. We walked to the other side of the castle where there were significantly less people but a few still trickled by once in a while. He finally said that he'd been trying to find the perfect spot and then he pulled out the ring and started to get down on one knee. I think out of excitement I grabbed his hands before he could fully get down on his knee so then he stood back up. But I said yes! I love Christopher so much and I love the effort and time he took to propose to me. It might not have gone exactly the way he wanted it to, but I loved it and I'm so happy that I finally get to marry him! Christophers side of the story: I had been putting off getting engaged for a long time, because I wanted to do it right and I'm not good at planning things or sounding genuine. When we decided to take a trip to Disney World, that finally gave me a locked-in window of time to do it. Since I had never been there before, I didn't have a solid plan, and I spent the first day at every park trying to scope things out. I didn't like anything I came up with. One idea was to pull out the ring on the dark part of a ride like Pirates of the Caribbean or the People Mover (so I was holding it up when it got bright again), or to hold a decoy ring as we dropped down Splash Mountain (so it would end up in the picture, but I wouldn't have to risk losing the real one). My other idea was to do it during one of the end-of-day firework shows. I think both of those are decent ideas for someone else, but they didn't feel like us. The ride idea was a little too silly, and the firework idea was too dramatic and would draw attention from all the people around us. In the end I decided to find a quiet part of the park after the fireworks, where it was still nice but there weren't a lot of people around. I didn't have a speech prepared or anything, and to be honest I don't feel like I did a great job, but she said yes which was the important thing.
