Yes you do. Apply for your visa one month before you leave for India. You can apply here- https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html Ask Chris for help if you need it!
The advised shots are Hep A (1st and 2nd dose). Typhoid and DTP (diptheria tetanus and polio). These shots are free to you (in the UK, we don't know in other countries but probably) and are available on the NHS through your GP.
All of the wedding events are in central Bangalore. St Patrick's Church and the Catholic Club (reception venue) are right next to each other on Museum Road- a 5 minute walk from Brigade Road, the heart of the city's tourist centre. The roce is on the rooftop of Marina's parent's Apartment building, less than 2 kilometres away from Brigade Road.
We advise you carry some cash (in rupees) with you. You will be able to use your card to pay in most restaurants, shops and for Uber rides. However, you may need cash to pay for an auto rickshaw ride or in any of the smaller shops or market stalls. Alternatively most vendors in India do accept UPI payments using GPay, etc. Most big Indian cities do have currency exchange centres all over in case you would prefer to exchange currency in India.
You will be able to get a SIM card in the airport or within the city. You will need to provide proof of ID when setting up your SIM. We recommend getting a prepaid SIM. Airtel or VI (Vodafone) are your best options with plenty of great prepaid plans. Our UK Sims also work in India, if that's what you prefer, but it's significantly more expensive than using a local SIM.
Uber! Or another taxi app is Ola. Local taxis may try and cheat foreigners, which is why the apps are better. You will find them cheaper than taxis in London, Melbourne, etc. For a rickshaw ride, use the 'Namma Yatri' app in Bangalore. Different cities have different rickshaw apps. You can pay a rickshaw with cash or UPI payment like GPay, they usually don't accept card payments. You can also hail and ride a rickshaw. Simply hail an empty one to you, tell them where you want to go and they may or may not agree. Be aware they will try and overcharge you this way.
Women can wear sarees, lehengas, kurta sets, kurtis or indian-western fusion outfits. Prestitched or predraped sarees are easier to put on than the normal ones. Amazon, Indya.com and OneMinuteSaree.com are great places to look! Men can wear sherwanis, kurta sets, kurta's and regular trousers, dhotis, lungis, etc. Amazon has it all. For more advice reach out to Marina directly.
Nope. This website forces us to have a 'Registry' tab that we cannot figure out how to hide, but we do not plan on having a gift registry :)
