Kateri Miller
Bride
Kateri, or Kate as some of you may know her, is a 20 year old barista at Starbucks working her way through a software engineering degree through Arizona State University. She hopes to work in cyber security when she graduates. She is an avid reader but mostly just likes shopping at Half-Price Books. She likes any and all board games you may know (except Settlers of Catan. Don't even mention it). In her spare time, which currently is almost never, she likes to run, play piano, write stories and songs, and skateboard! She has a great heart for travel, languages, and other cultures. She is ecstatic to have you at her wedding and to get married to the love of her life!
Christopher Nelson
Groom
Christopher, or Chris, is a 23 year old manager at Skyline (yum!). He is passionate about Jesus, the Miami Dolphins and Heat, and the glories of good food. He has an innate ability to give you every detail about his day, and a great ear for listening to any and all of your thoughts or problems. He has only been to a few countries to date, but he has a great desire to travel the world spreading the love of Jesus and the gospel. Chris is an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons and could out-role-play you on any given day. He loves his dogs, his family, and of course his super amazing and hot fiancee who definitely is not writing this all out for him (lol). He is excited for the wedding, mostly for the tacos, and he cannot wait for the day!
Bridget Kay Miller
Maid of Honor
Bridget, Kay, Bridget Kay, BK, Miller, whatever you call her, is Kateri's favorite sister (considering she only has one), but also simply one of her favorite people. She has been the constant companion of Kateri, mostly by force as they have shared a room almost entirely uninterrupted for the past twenty years, but also because she compliments Kateri perfectly. Kay is a graduate of OSU with a degree in animal science and a minor in meat science. Surprisingly, she went in hoping to be a vet and left a butcher. She loves all animals though, especially her dog, Captain (pictured with Kay) and her horse Trinity (not pictured because she's huge and hard to fit in frame). Kateri could not imagine this day or any day really without her. She is excited about the family all being together!
Cameron Dickson
Best Man
Cameron is one of Chris' most interesting friends for sure. He is an absolute spit fire of a person and the life of the party. One could say he grabs life by the metaphorical gonads. He has been the lead singer of a band and your favorite waiter at the local Benihana or Top Golf, but mostly he has been a consistent friend to Chris. The two bonded in show choir back in high school where they razzled and dazzled the stage together as only two young men can. You've never seen jazz hands quite like theirs, folks. If you would like to strike up a conversation with Cam at the wedding, you only need to ask him about the wonderful body art that he has. A crowd favorite is the saxophone. Cam is excited about the partying, but is mostly excited to be the friend honored to help Chris on his big day.
Marylin Willison
Bridesmaid
Marylin is Kateri's cousin and probably the coolest strawberry blonde to walk this earth. She recently graduated from Miami University with a degree is psychology and a minor in criminology. She should probably have her own instagram page for her room and decor tips because it is adorable. Honestly should have used that for her profile picture. She is one of Kateri's closest cousins and has been her ride or die since they were kiddos. She is a born advocate for the underrepresented and is beyond brilliant. Pick her brain about any current event and she will be able to inform you about thirty different perspectives on the issue. She is excited about the wine selection at the wedding.
Xander Nelson
Groomsman
Xander is the second of the Nelson children, but nonetheless, he is certainly the wildest. He can simply be described as "the life of the party" and "quite the ladies-man," so watch out all you single women! He will be following in his father's footsteps in joining the Military (as a Marine that is, not Coast Guard) shortly following the wedding. Xander is one of Chris' greatest supporters. He is fiercely loyal and always has Chris' back which is why he will be joining us at the altar. Xander may always be a wild card in life, but he is always consistent in his fraternal love. Xander is excited for the dancing and making the reception a total banger!
Ciara Lewis
Bridesmaid
Ciara is simply one of the best people you will ever meet. She is a steady and consistent friend, even despite long distances, and is endlessly uplifting and caring. She is a lover and great friend to Jesus. She was one of the people that helped Kateri realize who she is in God. She is also breathtakingly gorgeous and the only one of six bridesmaids that passes 5'4". If you want to strike up a conversation with her, just ask her about anything farm to table or green eating. She is your gal! She has personally inspired Kateri to have safe cookware in her home. Ciara's husband, Peter, will also be joining the bridal party, but the two will not be walking down the aisle together (lol). Chris and Kateri will be the only married couple allowed to that! She is excited for the tacos!
Jackson Nelson
Groomsman
Jackson is the third rugrat in the Nelson clan, but he is definitely not the smallest of the bunch. Jackson is a rising Junior at Olentangy Oragne High School. He is one of the defensive linemen for the football team and a great wrestler. Don't get between him and the food at the reception, folks! He is affectionately referred to by Chris and Kateri as "Chef Jackson" because of his culinary talent. He is a cool, calm, and collected young man and is certain to bring a smile to your face in a lighthearted conversation. Chris is proud to have his youngest brother stand by him and support him on the big day. Jackson is excited about the cool groomsmen sunglasses!
Fabiola Peñalba
Bridesmaid
Fabi is a fun-spirited and deeply caring person. Kateri and Fabi met when she came to visit her boyfriend (now husband!) in the US in 2018. She was still uncertain about a lot of things in life, but Kateri was certain they would be friends no matter what happened. Kateri and Chris had the pleasure of visiting her home country in Honduras in 2019 and had a wonderful time ministering to people with her. Kateri had the honor of being a bridesmaid at her wedding and helping her on her special day. Fabi is also a worship leader, so we may just have to put her on the spot to show off her talent at the wedding (jk, but maybe)! She is excited to return the favor of being a bridesmaid!
Peter Lewis
Groomsman
Peter is the wonderful husband of Ciara as you may have already read in her bio. I put that first because he certainly always puts Ciara first as well. He is also one of the leaders of the young adult group, "Fire," that Chris and Kateri often attended together in 2018. He has been a role model to Chris of what it means to be a man after God's heart and also a "godly man" (lol, jk, he's really humble actually). He is a phenomenal drummer, so beware! If a song with a good beat comes on, he may pull out his imaginary drum kit and go to town! Peter doesn't always say much, but he always says the right thing and he says it well. Check out his podcast, "The Storytellers," to see what I mean. Peter is essential to this day because he is a great friend and supporter. He is excited for the music!
Kylie Kroger
Bridesmaid
Kylie is an absolute burst of sunshine. She is the type of person who would drop anything and everything to help you, but she also loves to tell you how it is. Kylie and Kateri worked at Starbucks for the past year and have bonded over their mutual love for Jesus, coffee, good music and podcasts, and like everything. She is the first person to admit when she has done something wrong and step up to make it right. She is a born fighter and friend. In the short time that the two have known each other, she has become a confidant in Kateri's struggles while also remaining someone she can always count on to have fun. Get ready for Kylie on the dance floor after hitting the bar. It's gonna be a good time! She is excited for all the photos!
John Link
Groomsman
John is one of Chris' longest lasting friendships. The two have shared a high school, a college, an apartment, a D&D playing field, a last name for a short period of time, and probably a few too many stories. He has been there since high school started and Chris probably won't be able to get rid of him any time soon (nor does he want to). John is an OSU student studying...something (the bride has to do more research as she evidently has forgotten what that something is). Kateri occasionally teases the pair referring to John as "your boyfriend" when asking Chris about him as the two probably text more than the actual couple does. He's all hers now though, buddy! Certainly though, John will continue to be a part of the two's life in an important way. He is excited for the game board area!
Lydia Fitzpatrick
Bridesmaid
Lydia is a blue-haired goddess of a barista. Kateri and Lydia met over coffee, as in they were both working to make the coffee. Lydia was also most definitely born to something like a flower or an angel because of her sweet disposition. She is endlessly generous and loving and has always been there to back up Kateri when she needs it. She is also one of the coolest people you will ever meet as she rocks out to heavy metal. She is the edgy queen we all wanted to be, but she actually had the guts to do it. She is a fantastic makeup artist and will be doing the makeup for the bride the day of, so you can thank her for making Kateri presentable for once. She is excited to get ready on the day of!
Eric Jace Dodge
Groomsman
Jace is yet another of the show choir crew. He hails from the land of Utah and is as musically talented as the whole cast of "The Book of Mormon" combined. Chris and Jace met in high school and bonded, once again, over jazz hand technique. They were in multiple musical productions together as well and have continued to share a passion for music off the stage. He is a free spirit type, but also has impeccable homemaking capabilities. His apartment was spotless when Chris and Kate visited which is a great feet for an eighteen-year-old man. Jace has been a dear friend to Chris and will continue to be for a long time to come. Chris is excited to have him start the procession down the aisle as he is a great show opener. Jace is excited for the great suits they get to wear!
Ryan Rhodes
Officiant
Ryan Rhodes is the officiant for the wedding. He is the leader of "Fire Movement" now based out in Seattle and led the young adult group that Kateri and Chris both attended. The couple asked Ryan to officiate the wedding because he is hungry for and passionate about the love of Jesus and also takes his own marriage very seriously. He is a dedicated husband, father, and advocate for the Gospel. Chris, Kateri, and Ryan all have been on a missions trip to Honduras together, and while there, funnily enough, Ryan offered to marry them in Comayagua one night on a whim. The two declined after laughing about it, and probably for the best, but they have stuck to his offer. Make sure you say hi to his lovely wife, Milca, and his dashingly adorable one-year-old, Sophía, at the wedding.
