We met in the middle of a South Boston bar. Jamie had just finished hiking the Appalachian Trail and was searching the bar for new friends. Chris had decided that there wasn't enough room to dance and had cleared out the dining tables to do his best Saturday Night Fever re-enactment. After walking through the entire bar, Jamie spotted Chris breaking it down and approached him, breaking out her best moves, such as the Bernie and the Sprinkler. Impressed with her moves, Chris offered to buy her a drink and at the end of night asked to take her out on a proper date. Fast forward five years and we're getting ready to break it down with all of you at our wedding!
Movies tell us that proposals always go smoothly. Let me tell you, this one did not go as planned. Chris had been planning this for a long time, had everything set up and knew what he was going to do. A simple dinner date and beach proposal. On the day of the proposal, Chris discovered that the camera he had planned to use for photos was no longer in the same place. Jamie decided to clean the apartment and that apparently involved moving everything Chris had planned to use that night. It's location was revealed after using the excuse of a rare bird being in the backyard, which warranted a picture being taken with "the nice camera" - it was about this time when Jamie's suspicions grew. Fraught with nerves and doing his best to push through as his plan's crumbled around him, Chris took Jamie on a dinner date on the beach in Winthrop. As the camera crew approached under the guise of dinner guests, Chris got down on one knee and attempted to propose using the speech he'd practiced 100 times before. After getting a sentence in he mentally blanked, rambled his way through his proposal and Jamie excitedly said "Yes!". With tears in her eyes, she followed up with, "I knew there was no rare bird in the yard".
